- "This large dragon skeleton that hangs in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom is allegedly a trophy taken by Professor Hecat after she single-handedly defeated one of the largest poaching rings in Eastern Wales during the Great Poacher Raid of 1878."

This skeleton of a Hebridean Black belonged to Dinah Hecat, the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor during the late 19th century.[1]
History[]
- "I get new students every year but I only have one Hebridean Black skull. It was a token from the Great Poacher Raid of 1878. No doubt you've heard of it."
- — Professor Dinah Hecat to her students[src]
The Hebridean Black skeleton was taken as a trophy by Dinah Hecat after she defeated a ring of poachers in the Great Poacher Raid of 1878. She hung it from the ceiling of Classroom 3C at Hogwarts Castle during her tenure as the Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts in the late 19th century.[1]
On 2 September 1890, the skull of the skeleton was nearly knocked down when Leander Prewett and Sebastian Sallow were duelling in their first Defence Against the Dark Arts class of the school year. It was levitated and positioned back into place by Professor Hecat, who reprimanded the boys. The skeleton also had an entry in the Wizard's Field Guide.[1]
The skeleton could be seen in Classroom 3C during the tenures of Quirinus Quirrell, Gilderoy Lockhart, and Remus Lupin.[2][3][4] It had been taken down by the time that Dolores Umbridge was the incumbent Professor.[5] However, the skeleton had once again been hung up in the classroom by the time that Brindlemore was the incumbent Professor.[6]
