Favourites of 2023

Last year in this post, I said that 2022 had been very challenging for me and for my family. I had no idea what was to come. 2023 has been horrible for me and my family, but my cardmaking has allowed me to keep a modicum of sanity.

This year, I continued with the coordination of A Blog Named Hero, and I now also coordinate the Global Team for Hero Arts. I continued on the design teams for Paper RoseColorado Craft Company, and Spellbinders. I was a guest designer for Scrappy Tails and for Crafty Meraki. I was a guest of Mary Gunn on Craft Roulette twice this year, which is always heaps of FUNN! I also continued as a moderator of Jennifer McGuire's Share Handmade Kindness group on Facebook.

Each year, I start planning my annual Case me a Christmas Card in August - I usually have all of the guests locked in and about 1/3 of my cards made by the end of August. This year, it got to the end of August, and I was still trying to decide if I could run it this year. I finally decided that I needed to put my own physical and mental health first (along with that of my family) and cancel for this year. I sent messages to all of the lovely crafters who have been my guests in recent years to let them know. They were all so very kind and understanding, and many of them sent follow up messages just to check in with me to see that I was OK.

Then on the morning of October 2nd, I woke up to an avalanche of notifications on Instagram. My crafty friends, led by the wonderful Ardyth Percy Robb, decided that I needed some help, and so they organised to do Case me a Christmas Card for me. They all chose one of my cards and created a CASE of that card, and posted it to Instagram all at the same time. They also asked other crafters to join in, so it was one giant Instagram party! I spent most of that day ugly crying, amongst trying to comment on every post. Because of this, my favourite cards for 2023 are not my own, but were made by those crafty friends who joined in, just so that I would feel loved.

Thank you.

Merry Christmas from Paper Rose

Merry Christmas! Today, I'm sharing my last Christmas Card of the year for Paper Rose Studio.

I cut a piece of paper from the Rainbow Twirl paper pack with a chevron pattern on it, and adhered it to a top folding white card base. I cut three baubles using the Layering Ornate Bauble 1 and 2 dies and adhered them over the patterned paper. I finished with a printed sentiment from the Merry Christmas Sentiment Sheets adhered with foam tape.
