May Arts in May!

A Blog Named Hero is doing a collaboration with Hero Arts this month - I was so excited to use some beautiful May Arts ribbon, but it was very hard to choose which one to use!  But, in the end, I couldn't go past this glittery fabulousness!

Handmade chocolate!

I had such a fun afternoon today.  My crafty friend, Cathleena, invited a few of us to learn how to make chocolates (proper, couverture chocolate - we tempered it and everything!) with our fabulous teacher, Chloe, who has done a course on chocolate making.  So, Cath, Chloe, Sarah and I (we're all science communication officers at CSIRO) spend a fabulous few hours in Chloe's kitchen making ganache-filled chocolates and a chocolate flower!  Here are some pics:

I had such a good time - thanks to Chloe for teaching us so many cool things and inviting us into her home, thanks to Cath for the idea in the first place and for organising everything, and thanks to Sarah, who called shotgun on licking the bowl, but graciously allowed the rest of us some, too!!

A CAS card for A Blog Named Hero

The challenge this week at A Blog Named Hero is to Clean Up Your Act - go CAS!  Create a clean and simple creation and link it up at A Blog Named Hero!  Here's what I created, using HA Antique Engravings stamps and matching dies, a HA sentiment and some May Arts ribbon.

I heat embossed the butterflies onto the ribbon using HA white embossing powder.
Please join in with this very cool challenge - you could win a $25 voucher from Simon Says Stamp!!

One of the lovely DT members at A Blog Named Hero, Stephanie, had a baby - a little baby boy named Declan!  Congratulations Stephanie and Steve :)

The DT ladies (me included, as I am covering Stephanie's DT place while she takes maternity leave) have made some cards to celebrate the arrival of little Declan - here's mine!

His and Hers Birthday cards

I've had an incredibly busy week, so I'm now trying to catch up on some cards for the Online Card Class, His and Hers.  I decided to make a couple of birthday cards using the same layout and the same polka dot stamp from Paper Smooches, but using different ink colours, a different sentiment stamp and different embellishments.

I decided to try to combine the online class with a challenge from CASual Fridays - CFC 100 Top Ten Tic Tac Toe.  I went with square card, polka dots and birthday.

His and hers sympathy cards

Today's homework from the Online Card Class, His and Hers, was to make a sympathy card.  I decided to use the same layout and technique, but use different colours (distress inks) and different stamps (both of the sentiments, as well as the butterflies, are from Hero Arts. The leaves are VERY old stamps from PSX and Hampton Arts).
By the way, is anyone else out there in blogland having difficulties getting Blogger to upload photos?  These 4 photos took me almost 30 mins to upload!! So frustrating!!
