The Blow Mace is a Mace-class Artifact weapon introduced in Golden Sun: The Lost Age.

Basic Description by Game[]

In all appearances, the Blow Mace increases the wielder's attack by 45 points. It can be sold for 2100 coins and subsequently re-bought for 2800 coins.

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, it is found in a treasure chest in an underground area within the Yampi Desert. It can initially be equipped by FelixSheba, and Piers. Later on, IsaacGaret, and Mia can equip the Blow Mace as well. The Blow Mace's Unleash effect is Boost Hack, which is effectively a standard physical attack that adds 17 damage points and then modifies the resulting damage based on the user's Mars power and the target's Mars resistance. Boost Hack visually resembles the user attacking the air in front of him/her, and a large red image of a cutting swath of energy flashes across the screen. This basically resembles a red palette swap of the Elven Rapier unleash sans the black screen.

In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, the Blow Mace is found in a chest at Passaj Mountain Climb, and can be equipped by MatthewTyrell, and Rief. It retains Boost Hack as its main Unleash, but also gains Critical Strike. Critical Strike is a non-elemental physical attack that multiplies damage by 1.5.

Analysis[]

The Blow Mace is stronger than any other weapon you could possibly have before the early point in The Lost Age when you can first find this in its chest. Both Felix and Sheba can equip it. Since at the early stage of the game you should not use Sheba for physically attacking, but rather for using area-of-effect Psynergy, this should probably be equipped by Felix, even if he already has Themis' Axe, to promote the relevancy of his physical attack strikes in battles. Since shortly after Yampi Desert is Air's Rock, though, which contains the more powerful Storm Brand, it can be appropriately distributed to Sheba later, but rather quickly.

In Dark Dawn, the Blow Mace will be the strongest weapon available at the time, which is helpful as Passaj's shops will not be open until later in the game. The Blow Mace makes a good weapon for Tyrell to wield, given Boost Hack's Mars-based nature. By the time Tyrell gets a new weapon, Rief will already have access to stronger weapons himself.

Trivia[]

It is worth noting that usage of the Retreat Glitch on the chest for the Blow Mace in The Lost Age results in the obtaining of a Long Sword, with a similar set of text boxes showing up upon interaction with the chest as when the same glitch is used to obtain the Sol Blade in Air's Rock.
