- Criston: "Rosby and Stokeworth, small castles right in the shadow of King's Landing. They would not want us for enemies."
- Aemond: "We could add their levies to our own. Our host growing as we advance."
- — Criston Cole and Aemond Targaryen[src]
The submission of Rosby was an event of the Dance of the Dragons, part of Ser Criston Cole's campaign in the Crownlands in 132 AC.[a] It ended in House Rosby declaring for the Greens and adding their forces to Cole's army.
History[]
Prelude[]
After Ser Criston Cole is named Hand of the King by King Aegon II, he assembles a Targaryen-Hightower army in King's Landing and marches north on the Rosby Road, with the objective of forcing the submission of all the noble houses of the Crownlands to the Greens' cause. During their march to Rosby, Criston's army is spotted and harassed by Baela atop Moondancer. Subsequently, Criston began marching his army solely at night to exploit the treecover and mask his movements from the Blacks.[1]
Submission[]
Upon the arrival of the Green army at Rosby, House Rosby willingly submits to Criston without siege, raising King Aegon II's banner, and contributing levies to the Green host.[2]
Aftermath[]
With the forces of Houses Rosby added to the Green army, Criston and his forces marched for Castle Stokeworth. There, House Stokeworth also submits to Criston's army without a fight.[2]
In the books[]
In Fire & Blood, House Rosby declared Black at first, but switched sides when Criston's host arrived at their castle.

Notes[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 In "A Son for a Son," Daemon Targaryen and Otto Hightower mention that days have passed since Viserys Targaryen and Lucerys Velaryon's deaths. Unlike the first season, no major time jumps are expected; therefore, House of the Dragon: Season 2 takes place in 132 AC.
