Wavetamers were specialty priests devoted to Valkur, the Captain of the Waves.[1]

Wavetamers spread Valkur's worship across the waters of Faerûn.[1]
Abilities[]
A wavetamer could turn undead specific to the sea such as lacedons and sea zombies. They enjoyed a blessing from Selûne, that represented her friendly relationship with Valkur, that made it easier for them to navigate via the stars. They possessed extensive knowledge regarding sailing vessels of all shapes and sizes, making them adept at navigating treacherous waters in any craft and performing repairs.[1]
Wavetamers possessed a number of magical abilities. Once per tenday they could conjure fruit for a crew of up to 100 sailors to ward off scurvy. They could cast the following spells once per day: weathertell, swim, control winds, ride the wind, and control weather. The following spells could be cast twice per day: trip, warp wood, straighten wood, and slow rot. They could also cast weather summoning three times per tenday and conjure air elemental or conjure water elemental once per tenday.[1]
Possessions[]
In addition to blunt weapons, wavetamers commonly wielded cutlasses, harpoons, nets, and tridents. They heavist armor they wore was chainmail and they never used a shield.[1]
