Jelenn Urmbrusk (pronounced: /dʒəˈlɛn ˈɜːrmbrʌsk/ juh-LEN URM-brusk[2]) was a moneylender and one of the Lords of Waterdeep during the late 15th century DR.[1]
Personality[]
Jelenn was a proud woman and she feared political scandals. If someone truly helped her, she could become a trusted ally, but anyone that tried to menace her attracted her wrath.[1]
Activities[]
Jelenn was cloistered in her villa or attending her duties as Lord when she was not dealing with her creditors.[1]
History[]
In her work as a moneylender, Jelenn had some financial troubles and her customers abandoned her. In desperation and fearing a political scandal, she secretly asked for a large sum of money from the Zhentarim.[1]
In 1492 DR,[note 2] Manshoon blackmailed Jelenn and forced her to use her political power to cover the activities of the Zhentarim loyal to Manshoon.[1]
Appendix[]
Notes[]
- ↑ Jelenn is introduced as "she" and "her" on page 98 of Waterdeep: Dragon Heist but page 160 uses the male pronoun "he". This latter, minor reference is viewed as a typographical error.
- ↑ Canon material does not provide a year for the events described in Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, but Christopher Perkins answered a question via Twitter and stated the year was 1492 DR. Corroborating this, Dragon Heist page 20 refers to events of Death Masks (set in 1491 DR) as being "last year". Unless a canon source contradicts this assertion, this wiki will use 1492 DR for events related to this sourcebook and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage (which is referenced on pages 5 and 98 of Dragon Heist).
