Gloom stalkers were those rangers that felt more at home in the dark and gloomy places of the Realms. They stood bravely in the face of dangers that originated from the dark, protecting innocents from those umbral threats.[1]
Activities[]
These stalwart travelers could often be found exploring the depths of the Underdark.[1] They tirelessly tracked down evil dangers found in the darksest corners of the Realms and remained patient until just the right moment to attack presented itself.[3]
Culture[]
As befitting their chosen line of work, gloom stalkers were typically not afraid of the dark.[3]
Abilities[]
Novice gloom stalkers gained access to a wider variety of spells than rangers that took to the open wilderness of nature or other environments. These spells better helped them navigate the depths of Faerûn, bypass the dangers found within, and maintain stealthy movement when traveling through the darkness. These included disguise self, rope trick, fear, greater invisibility, and seeming.[1]
They honed their ability to see well in darkness and used this to their advantage in combat. Gloom stalkers were experts at ambushing their foes, and came up with exceptional techniques to ensure any errant strike of their weapon would strike true.[1]
Over time, gloom stalkers developed various methods to strengthen their mind and protect themselves from psychic assaults, mind-control, and many other spells or effects that attempted to target their mental fortitude.[1]
The most veteran gloom stalkers could unnaturally move through shadows to dodge attacks made by other opponents.[1]
