- Dark Mother Lalondra Worul succeeds in turning herself into a lich, killing all of the True Servants of Shar whose own lives are tied to her life force. With all but one of its members dead, the True Servants of Shar cease to exist. As the ranking members head all of the Church of Shar's operations along the Sword Coast, the church suddenly finds itself leaderless.[1] Followers of Shar riot all along the Sword Coast.[1][2]
697 DR in politics
- King Davyd of Delimbiyran is assassinated amidst the Sharran riots. There is no legitimate heir to take the throne, so the kingdom collapses into civil war. Several "kingdoms" break away, including Calador, Scathril, and Loravatha.[3][2]
697 DR in people
- Dark Mother Lalondra Worul descends into the Underdark hoping to found her own realm but, displeased with her recent actions, Shar strips the Dark Mother of her magic, leaving her near-powerless in caverns full of drow and alhoons. She doesn't survive long.[1]
