Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem pre-release information
Currently few pre-release images of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem are in wide circulation. The one known pre-release flier shows a fair handful of differences in the game on its own.
Flier
A pre-release flier for ファイアーエムブレム 紋章の謎 (仮称), Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem (tentative title), is known to exist. While it does not have much information on it it does feature little circulated early character artwork and screenshots. The front of the flier features artwork of Marth in blue armor, Jagen, Ogma, and Caeda.
Character artwork
The above flier features artwork of characters in Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, several of the designs depicted are different from artwork that was widely distributed after release.

Marth more closely matches his Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light design-primarily in his lack of pants. All of Marth's artwork that was widely circulated for Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem after release features him with pants, though his battle animations in the game itself are still pantsless.

Lena is more similar to her Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light design in that she has pink robes. The final widely circulated artwork also gives her a mouth and white robes.

Caeda's art is completely different, featuring her riding her pegasus. Design-wise, she has different boots and no visible stockings, and her gloves have no white cuffs.

Jagen's art looks similar but there are many differences, such as his hand position, the thickness of the lance head, or the look of the horse's tail. |

While most of the screenshots on the pre-release flier are too small to make out any fine-detail differences, Linde clearly has a different portrait. Her hand is visible in the early portrait and she has what appears to be a hoop earring. Additionally, Marth's portrait appears to be an intermediate revision; some of his hair resembles his book 1 portrait over the final book 2 portrait. Also of note, in the final game the text boxes switched positions for this dialogue scene. The dialogue in the pre-release screenshot uses fewer kanji characters. Judging by the background, this conversation takes place on a different part of the map in the earlier version as well. The area in the final version features houses, and it has one more forest tile in that part than the early area. |
