Zefer is a historical character in Final Fantasy VIII.
Story[]
Zefer was a sorceress' knight who defended his sorceress in standing up for the people of a collapsed country in ancient times.
In modern times, Zefer and the sorceress he defended are famous, and the sorceress is regarded as one of three sorceresses of historical importance. During production of a movie about their adventures, Laguna Loire played the role of Zefer in the film. His friends Kiros Seagill and Ward Zabac were asked to fill in for an actor that had become ill, and were to wear a dragon costume to attack Zefer and the sorceress. A real dragon came through the shooting location and Laguna fended it off with Zefer's gunblade before regrouping with Kiros and Ward to dispatch the dragon. The film became very popular.[1]
Though not directly stated in Final Fantasy VIII, it is heavily implied that Zefer and the film were highly influential on Seifer Almasy, and inspired his decision to train with the gunblade and his dream to become a sorceress knight. This is reflected in his stance in battle, which is identical to Laguna's when Laguna fought the dragon. Seifer's love of the film and admiration of Zefer is confirmed in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia.[2]

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]
Zefer and the film about him is alluded to in Final Fantasy XIII-2 as the answer to one of the possible questions in Captain Cryptic's Confounding Quiz. The question is: "Which celebrated movie introduced the gunblade, a now-popular toy among kids?" The answer is "The Sorceress's Knight".
Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy[]
The costume he wears in the movie "Zefer" appears as a downloadable outfit for Laguna Loire in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy.
Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia[]
In Arc 1, Chapter 7 of Opera Omnia's story mode, Seifer, Fujin and Raijin meet Laguna and recognize him as starring in the film about Zefer and his sorceress, and Seifer praises Laguna for inspiring him.
