Page 5- Second Princess Rescue/ Into the Desert FlamesofRebirth
Completely Random Introductory Quote-
Sanity is not statistical.
George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four
“I can’t believe she’s Princess Ashe. Better help her out I guess.”[]
With those last two hunts out of the way, go get betrayed by Ondore. First I’ll tell you how to sneak through without setting off any alarms, then I’ll start over at the beginning and tell you the quicker, more dangerous way.
Leviathan- Sneaky Way[]
The path branches three ways, take the middle one. At the end of the hall, turn right, then continue south past the dead end hallway (containing a lurking soldier) to an open area. The chest in the dead end straight ahead may contain a Handaxe, but going in there will set off the alarm unless you‘re really quick. Take the other exit to another square area, and go out to the right (the one not blocked by lasers). Follow this hallway around to the left to get to the next area, then go south and take the first exit you see. At the end of the hall, turn left, then exit the square room to the left as well. Go up through the next room to a dead end, go right then immediately turn left. At this intersection, only the left path is unblocked, so take it. Turn right before you hit the dead end, then take the next right followed quickly by a left. Go right at the end of the long, straight hallway, then take the first left you see. There is only one way to go around this section, you will pass the Bulkhead Release on the left wall right before the exit to the Sub-Control Room. A group of four Imperials is waiting for you on the top level, so you might want to cast Protect all around before you go in. It’s not imperative, though. The Magus can be annoying with his Blind spells, so tackle him first. When all four are put down, head down the stairs to face two more, then activate the second Bulkhead Release in the middle of the back wall. Then take the stairs directly behind you into the next area. Go straight ahead to the door and skip ahead to the boss battle section.
Leviathan- Quick and Painful Way[]
I would just like to go on record as saying that the first way I listed is long and boring, and anyone who took it is a pussy. The rest of you, you might want to cast Protect before you save at the crystal, but it’s not a big deal if you don’t. This way really isn’t any harder than the other. When the path branches out three ways, go right through the lasers (or take the extra two seconds to go around) and head south to the dead end with the treasure chest. Hopefully you will get that Handaxe, either way take the east exit into the next hallway. Exit this square room to the east as well, then turn right and into the next zone. Go south and around to the stairs, and get to killing. When all the Imperials are vanquished, take the door in the middle of the north wall of the lower floor. You’ll have to cross the lasers either way here, but if you go east and run past the first group of enemies before engaging them, you only have to do it once. Either way, get to the north hallway and take the door in the middle. Wasn’t that so much quicker and more manly?

Time to go[]
Character Intro- Ashe | ||||
File:Ashe.jpg | The foundation of any party is a white mage to keep your fighters alive, and Ashe ties with Penelo for the highest magic power in the game. The edge goes to Ashe, as she has higher strength and HP, plus the fact that the entire story revolves around her quest to reclaim her kingdom. Her magic power does grow slowly at lower levels, but then skyrockets later on. Still, she pretty much makes Penelo superfluous. Katanas are a good choice of weapon for Ashe, as their damage is based on both strength and magic. Your top two attackers will probably be using the Zodiac Spear and Excalibur, leaving the Masamune open for her.
Strengths- Magic plus decent strength/ HP | Weaknesses- Growth a little slow at low levels
Job- Mage | Best Weapons- Katana, Rods, Staves |
“If we can get to a launch bay, we can escape on an airship”[]
Pick up the System Access Key next to the save crystal, buy what you need from the moogles, and cast Protect before you save. The alarms will be going off non-stop now, there is a way to make them stop for 60 seconds, but you’re better off just going back by the shortest path, which is the Quick and Painful Way in reverse. Fight your way through or run, the choice is yours.
The Empire requires you no more.

Same as the last one, Blind him if you want, but his HP fall fast. Very disappointing after such a badass quote. If you somehow run into trouble, any Quickening chain at all will instantly drop him. Next. |
“West of the Sandsea… Sounds far”[]
Before you go back to Ondore’s, stop by the magic shop to buy the essential Cura and Raise. For any character who doesn’t have this license, getting it is their top priority. You’ll end up at the orange crystal in the Westersand. The Desert Merchant sells Rose Corsages, you want a total of three in your inventory, like any status-preventing accessory.
Side quest- Ktjn[]
Before embarking on your next journey, head back to Rabanastre. It’s been a while since we’ve been a dick to Ktjn, so tell her she “should have thought it through.” While you’re in town, hit up the hunt board and then accept the Wyvern Lord from an Imperial in the weapon shop. That’s all for now, back to the Westersand crystal.

Optional Masochism Treasure Hunt- Zwill Crossblade/ Shielded Armor/ Oil Bombs[]
This is only for the incredibly patient or the certifiably insane. Go back to Garamsythe and get 7 Malboro Flowers, which should be quick and easy if you’re leveled enough. Then go to the Estersand and Steal 9 Wind Crystals from the rare game Greeden. This shouldn’t be too bad, after you Steal from him you can save and reload at South Bank Village. Now the hard part- go through the cave in Ogir-Yensa Central Junction to get to Withering Shores, and spawn the rare game Imdugud by waiting at the north edge of the circular platform. You can Steal Shielded Armor from him, but the Windslicer Pinion is a rare drop, so it will take many kills to get 5 of them. Sell the Flowers, Crystals, and Pinions for the Zwill Crossblade, with a power of 73. If you want Oil Bombs, you need 4 Bomb Ashes, a rare drop from the rare game Pineapple. You can easily Steal Fire Crystals from Salamand Entites, so grab 3. Dustia is a bountiful source of Books of Orgain, so no problem getting two of those. I’d wait till later on this one.
The Ogir-Yensa Sandsea[]
The first zone of this huge area has nothing of interest, just make your way to the Platform 1 Refinery. When you come down from the platform, go straight across to the other round platform to find the map urn. Then go up to the only platform you haven’t been on yet, and go straight across to the next zone. You now have a choice of several paths to choose from. Before I tell you which way to go, there are a ton of potentially useful treasure chests in the Sandsea. I’ll just give a list of what each area potentially holds. East Junction- Killer Bow, Mace, Handaxe, Cypress Pole, Capella, Spear, Zwill Blade, Chopper. Primary Tank Complex- Iron Helm, Ring Mail, Iron Armor, Main Gauche. Central Junction- Sallet, Sash. If you go up here, watch out for a big, glowing orange ball called Salamand Entite. Don’t try to attack it, and don’t cast any magic near it, or it will kill you. Quickly and effortlessly. Platform 2 Refinery- Bronze Shield, Horned Hat, Wizard Hat, Armguard, Battle Harness. Go for it if you want, personally, I wouldn’t waste my time on stuff you can easily buy in shops, especially with the random chest system. Moving on, you can see on your map that there are two exits to the west of the Ogir-Yensa, we are aiming for the northern one, so go due west until you get to the Nam-Yensa. Check your map if you’re feeling lost.
Side quest- Eskir Berries[]
Talk to the moogle near the save crystal, and agree to help. Go west, and take the linear path to Withering Shores. You will see some Urutan-Yensa running, follow them to your target. If you leave the battle alone, the Urutan Eater will quickly live up to its name. So even out the odds, and cast Blind on the Eater to cripple him. You have plenty of time, he will focus on the Urutan-Yensa until they are wiped out. His weakness is wind, so just hammer away physically until he’s dead. Don’t forget to Steal, there may be an Ancient Sword in it for you. If any Urutan-Yensa survive the battle, they will turn on you despite the fact that you just saved their asses. Go back to the moogle to find out that the friendly Urutan ran off to the Ogir-Yensa. Run through the Platform 2 Refinery until you see a cut scene, then go back to the Sandscale Bank to see another scene, and pick the Eskir Berries that sprouted in front of the moogle. These will be very useful in an upcoming battle.
Re-apply that sunscreen[]
I swear, this (game) spends more time in the sand than David Hasselhoff.

A lot of new bazaar items opened up if you took care of that laundry list of loot, but we don't have anyone to sell it to just yet. Be patient, a merchant as well as a hell of a lot more desert are coming up on the next page.
