Abilities[]

I've seen the Shaolong Gui cast the following:
Quake, also cast at the start of battle
Bay, sometimes followed immediately with Quake
Ultima
Doom, at what is presumably the 20 min mark.

Also, when their health gets low they start casting Ultima and the Bay/Quake combo much more frequently (I've had them cast Ultima twice in 10 seconds)124.187.172.22 08:05, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

Um strategy 1. I guess people are just making up bulls*** that doesn't work at this point just to sound like they know what they're doing. Cast haste on themselves. Interesting , because Vanille DOESNT GET HASTE. Idiots.

Agreed. Not to mention it's suggested you start as synergists when you obviously need to be sentinel to take the opening attack. I recommend it be removed completely. 74.128.198.63 22:02, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Idiots huh? maybe people aren't using Vanille (considering she's weak as a melee...) Think of that? Couple years late but I just got this and like to point out it's VERY EASY to start out Syn/Syn/Syn, cast haste on yourself fast, and switch to Sen/Sen/Sen before the opening Quake hits you. If you're too slow to accomplish that.... o well. My party is Fang, Light, and Snow, and paradigms are Syn/Syn/Syn, Sent/Sent/Sent, Sab/Sab/Sab, Rav/Rav/Rav, Com/Com/Com, and Med/Med/Med.... pretty simple lol. Fight's last about a minute anda half (btw used teh same paradigms to beat the big one Long Gui.....course that fight lasted a bit longer.. but you only have to kill him once for trophy). Everyone has a Genji glove, Kaiser Knuckle (Fang has two), Gaian Ring and light and snow have a Conn. or collector catalog. O ya, and everyone has maxxed tier 3 weapons. Fang Taming Pole, Snow Umbra, and Lightning has Lionhheart (decent damage still and quicker staggers). Reason I'm not using Sazh..... i gave him Rigels. Great dmg but if I put him in that's two people with a stagger lock weapon. Not to mention Sazh never leaves the ground when attacking so every stomp will nail him.

Battle starts... haste yourself (you're Fang btw). Then go to Triple Sent fast. After quake hits, go to triple Sab. YOU spam daze only while the other two get the other debuffs up, at least imperil and slow and deprotect.Once all debuffs are on, switch to triple SYN fast once you see daze stick. Hopefully you switch before u un-stick it with another daze. lol If you do (make it stick that is), He'll just stand there while you buff up (btw have fang just repeat Bravara, Protectra, and Shellra on everyone nothing else) and heal from that first quake (and maybe a stomp). And since Imperil was up, Light will automaticallly enfire everyone. Once you're buffed...... go triple Rav, to 900+% on the gauge, then triple Com and kill it.99.29.162.93 03:52, January 24, 2012 (UTC)

Excellent call - much more effective than the strategy I was using previously. With my characters not very far in the development on their weapons, I wasn't able to quite finish it in one stagger, but it wasn't a big deal, since I could easily switch back and Daze it and then switch back to Tri-Disaster to get a high enough chain to finish it off. I believe you need to do the cieth stone mission 33 to unlock the shaolong gui, maybe that is worth mentioning?
