The Revenant is an enemy in the Dawn of Souls and many succeeding versions of the original Final Fantasy, bar the Android version or Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. This undead variety was introduced in Final Fantasy II. It shares the standard undead weaknesses to Fire and Dia and its attacks can cause Paralysis. Revenant enemies will usually flee when pitted against the standard party that explores the Whisperwind Cove (around level 50 or above).

Revenants are animated corpses or ghosts in Western folklore that are said to return from the dead to terrorize the living. The word "revenant" is French (Fr. revenir, "to return") and means "one who returns".
