Exotic weapon from a foreign land. Changes the Slot command to Gil Toss.
Description
Heiji's Jitte, also known as Coin Toss[1][2] is a relic in Final Fantasy VI. It changes the Slot command to the Gil Toss command, which throws gil for considerable damage. This makes it worth considering as a relic for Setzer, but can also be used by Gogo, who can equip the Slot command and use Heiji's Jitte to change it to Gil Toss.
Obtained[]
Heiji's Jitte can be obtained in the Cave to the Sealed Gate.
Use[]
Heiji's Jitte provides no passive bonus, and its only effect is replacing Slot with Gil Toss. The value of this depends on player preference. Gil Toss is much more consistent than Slot, and deals considerable damage to all enemies. However, it is also expensive to use, and players may prefer to conserve gil for the Auction House rather than expend it in battle. Heiji's Jitte depends largely on Setzer's level for the damage it deals.
Because Gil Toss deals sufficient damage on its own, Setzer's second relic slot should likely be used for a defensive relic.
When Master's Scroll and Fixed Dice are available, both are much better choices for Setzer. This is because Master's Scroll does not reduce damage from Fixed Dice, meaning that Fixed Dice can hit four times in a turn for the same damage the weapon would normally be capable of. Additionally, this combo is entirely independent of Setzer's stats and level, meaning it requires no investment to deal immense damage. As such, this is a better way to use Setzer, unless Master's Scroll is instead being used for another character. Heiji's Jitte can be used again when Setzer's level is high and gil is no object for the player.
Etymology[]
Gil Toss references a popular series of Japanese novels from the 1930s about a policeman in the Edo period named Zenigata Heiji, who captured criminals by throwing coins at them. The concept has appeared in various forms of Japanese media, including anime, manga, and video games.
