Greeden is a Rare Game enemy in Final Fantasy XII in the Dalmasca Estersand's the Banks of the Nebra area. It resembles the Wooly Gator, and sometimes comes with Protect or Shell. Unlike the Wooly Gator, the Greeden is aggressive and will attack when approached. It may be beneficial to find the Greeden early for its Braid Wool loot for the "Traveler's Garb" bazaar set.
Bestiary entry[]
Derivation: Wooly Gator
- Wooly gator adapted for life in the harsh desert. This strain, as yet unrecorded in the Camp annals, is hunted in the Dalmasca Estersand.
Stats[]
How to find[]
The player must wait for the Greeden to spawn for three minutes without leaving the area. The party can kill enemies, but avoid attacking or provoking any Cactites or Cactoids. The Greeden will spawn at the spot between the two Ichthons. The Greeden can only be spawned once per visit to the Dalmasca Estersand.
Battle[]
Greeden is a fairly strong enemy at the point where it can be first encountered, comparable to the Wild Saurian also in the Estersand. It uses strong physical attacks, and can inflict Blind with Flash.
Strategy[]
Wild Saurian is susceptible to Sleep. If put to sleep, it can be damaged without waking it by casting magick (unfortunately, the player cannot use earth magick in this game, so Greeden's elemental weakness cannot be exploited this way). This allows even a low-level party to safely defeat it.
Alternatively, the player can inflict Immobilize and attack it from afar. This allows use of ranged weapons in addition to magic.
Another useful status is Blind, which also has the advantage of being available (via the Blind spell) earlier than the aforementioned statuses. This will make Greeden's attacks often miss. Melee weapons can therefore be used: the Cypress Pole is one option for its earth damage.
