Battle[]
The Flametrooper is potentially one of the most dangerous members of the Shinra infantry, capable of dealing high fire damage-per-second in a large area-of-effect. If the player is unprepared and the Flametrooper is left unchecked, he can incapacitate the entire party in seconds.
He uses two fire abilities: Flamethrower , which releases a stream of fire for a very long duration, and Combustion , where shoots a quick burst of fire that can knock down opponents. They are capable of dealing serious damage to the party, specially given that the Flametrooper boasts from very high magic attack. His flamethrower attacks will penetrate blocking, but the player can destroy his fuel tank.
While in close combat, the Flametrooper will occasionally kick his opponent opponent away, briefly interrupting them.
Much like the vast majority of human-type enemies, the Flametrooper is weak against fire.
Hard mode[]
On the hard difficulty the Flametrooper will turn around faster when the player attacks him from behind. His fuel tank will also be more resistant to attacks, meaning it'll take longer to detonate it.
Strategy[]
It is advised to run when he sprays fire. Engaging directly is not recommended, since the Flametrooper resists physical attacks and is less susceptible to flinching. Instead, the Flametrooper should be attacked from behind, since this will eventually detonate his fuel tank, dealing high damage and knocking him down, leaving him pressured and vulnerable to stagger damage.
Despite the Flametrooper's dangerous damage output, his attacks can be mitigated or even nullified/absorbed with the use of the Elemental Materia linked with the Fire Materia on the character's armor.
