Mana series[]

The Gambanteinn is a recurring wand/staff weapon throughout the series, appearing in three entries. It debuted in Trials of Mana as the ultimate (or penultimate) weapon for Angela's Grand Diviner and Mystic Queen job classes. Per the official 1995 guidebook, it was a wand wielded by a giantess who bequeathed it to the Mana Goddess; it is said to draw out the user's latent abilities.

A rod once wielded by Holly Whyte.
The name comes from the rod used in northern legends of a god courting a maiden giant. Holly berated Ominas for close to an hour when he made fun of the name's childish origins.

Description

Gambanteinn is a staff that provides 25 P.Atk, 90 Aim, increases the wielder's mind by 10, deals 50% more damage to undead, and 25% more damage when attacking multiple targets. It can be bought in Chompshire for 200000 pg.

Etymology[]

In Norse mythology, Gambanteinn (Old Norse gambanteinn 'magic wand') appears in two poems in the Poetic Edda. It is the armament of Skírnir, the human messenger of the god Freyr, who threatened to use it against Freyr's wife, the jötunn goddess Gerðr, in the act of bringing her back to him to be given Freyr's magic sword.
