Everkeep is a location in Final Fantasy XIV.
Profile[]
Everkeep is a massive tower built with electrope. It is essentially an entire city constructed with several levels, and serves as the central location of authority within Alexandria. Each level serves its own purpose, such as goods manufacturing. The tower has twelve levels in total, but when it was transferred into the Source, the top twelfth level was left behind.
Locations[]
Everkeep has total of twelve levels, but only few of them have been identified.
- Solution Nine: The ninth and largest level of Everkeep. It acts as a residential district, that has several shops, parks and entertainment venues in the sectors near the aetheryte plaza. The Arcadion- battle arena is also located in this level. It also houses an administrative center of government.
- Eleventh level: This level houses the soul cell storage for Alexandrians.
- Summit of Everkeep: Located above the eleventh level, this is the location of the throne chamber for king Zoraal Ja, and an interdimensional portal to the unknown reflection.
- Living Memory: The top twelfth level of Everkeep, which was left behind in the ninth reflection, when Everkeep was transferred to the Source. Within Living Memory, deceased Alexandrians were brought back as facsimiles from their extracted memories, called Endless. Living Memory was built with an image of how Alexandrian civilization was at its height. Here, the Endless "lived" their happiest moments in life over and over.
- Origenics: A facility within Everkeep, which processes the soul cells, and spans from the first to the eleventh level of Everkeep.
- The upper level of Everkeep is believed to contain luxurious apartments, where the immortalized fighters of the Arcadion live their lives in comfort. However, Eutrope, the Wicked Thunder, discovered that this is not true: the immortalized are taken to a secret facility to be kept in confinement until they die of psychonecrosis.
History[]
The kingdom of Alexandria was devastated in a war called the Storm Surge. But thanks to the efforts of a group called the Preservation, Alexandria survived and was covered inside a dome, that kept it safe from thunderstorms raging across the world. In order to keep their civilization alive, Alexandria began to construct Everkeep on top of the location, where Alexandria castle once stood. The keep was constructed entirely from electrope, with twelve levels. Levels one through eleven were publicly known, but the top twelfth level, Living Memory, was kept in secret. The Alexandrians believed it housed the luxury residence of the Queen, when in truth, it served as the living space for the Endless.
The Endless required a supply of living aether in order for them to be maintained. The world eventually began to run low on such aether, and the Preservation began to look for other sources. They eventually planned to utilize interdimensional fusion to fuse Alexandria with the Source and steal its living aether. The plan was put on hold, when two rebelling Milalla scientists took the key required for the fusion to the Source and out of their reach.
Twenty years later, in the Source's flow of time, Zoraal Ja, son of the Dawnservant Gulool Ja Ja, opened the portal in Yak T'el in Tural, which led to the ninth reflection. He made contact with the Endless Queen Sphene and eventually became the King of Resolve of Alexandria. With the gate now open, Zoraal Ja and Sphene utilized interdimensional fusion and transferred the Everkeep and everything within the dome, mainly the region Heritage Found, to Yyasulani in Xak Tural, fusing the two regions. Only Living Memory was left behind in the ninth reflection. Due to time discrepancy between the ninth and the Source, decades passed inside the dome once it appeared, while outside the dome only days had passed. The time flow was stabilized once the dome was breached.
