Gehenna is a valley located near old Jerusalem and is also known the Valley of the Son of Hinnom. The location, mainly used as an incineration pit for trash, was supposedly utilized for human child sacrifice to the god Moloch by the Canaanites. This usage caused Christians, Jews, and Muslims to view the area as tainted and a destination for the wicked, and in scripture, the location is described as an analog to Hell.
