Enemy Intel
Cerulean Drake is a flying biological enemy in Final Fantasy VII Remake, fought in the quest "Just Flew In from the Graveyard" in Chapter 3, and also as regular enemies in Chapter 11, "Haunted", and in Chapter 15, "The Day Midgar Stood Still". It is a fast enemy that uses magical Ice attacks and teaches a skill if the player has the Enemy Skill Materia equipped.

Battle[]
The cerulean drake is a stronger variant of the lesser drake, which, employs various forms of ice-elemental attacks, such as Blizzard. Frigid Breath deals ice damage in a cone, while Freezing Dust causes an explosion around the drake. Frozen Barbs allows it to strike characters from virtually any distance. Lastly, Icy Aura envelops it with a small storm, dealing constant damage to all characters in its radius.
Much like the lesser drakes, they'll also fly high and away from the player, occasionally descending with gliding attacks. The cerulean drake can dive and use Talon Snatch to bind characters, who are taken into the air, and after a few moments, it uses Talon Dive, slamming their victim against the ground, dealing heavy damage.
Unlike most biological creatures, Lesser Drakes are not weak to Ice; they are weak to Wind, however, being flying types.
The Enemy Skill "Algid Aura" can be learned from the cerulean drake's Icy Aura.
Strategy[]
As a flying enemy, Cloud and Tifa will struggle to hit it with their normal attacks, and thus may want to resort to magic; Aero works best and also staggers it fast, and can be used to quickly dissipate Icy Aura. Aerith's Arcane Ward also helps pressure the cerulean drake further. In Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Wind spells always hit, so it is even better.
When it uses Frozen Barbs, the player can simply run sideways if controlling Cloud or Tifa to avoid the icicles, since they have faster movement speed. If the drake starts preparing for Frigid Breath, running underneath will avoid its damage; if it uses while near the ground, dodging backwards to the side is often the best option, or simply blocking. The party needs to take care when attacking the cerulean drake in the air when it starts flying high; if it starts channeling Freezing Dust, they should stop attacking and move away from the drake.
When the drake falls to the ground, the player can unleash Cloud's Braver, or one of Tifa's combos imbued with Unbridled Strength.
Hard Mode[]
On the hard difficulty, the cerulean drake will be more aggressive, more resilient to flinching, and will often hang in the air for longer, out of player's reach. It will use its abilities more often, most notably Talon Dive and Freezing Dust. It'll also be harder to interrupt after grabbing a character with Talon Snatch.
The cerulean drake is much easier to dispatch given the player's increased arsenal. By pairing the non-active characters with Synergy Materia and Wind Materia, the player can unleash a barrage of wind attacks to quickly stagger it.
