The Nintendo Wii U Next (Literally "We you're next", Codename "Next Cafè") is a home videogame console released in 30 August, 2023 developed by Nintendo ERD and distributed by Amazon Shopping, the US Healthcare System and Toshiba. Its principal competitors are the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Also, the Nintendo OLED3DS, Steam Deck and Sega Spectrum were also relevant for his sales. The Wii U Next is part of the ninth generation of video game consoles, along with Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S consoles and Sony's PlayStation 5.
It is one of the best selling Nintendo ERD console ever, and one of the best selling console in history.

The Wii U Next has new features.
- It has its own virtual shop, called Nintendo Eshop. You could buy games, download apps, and write bad reviews about that trash game called Fortnite.
- It has a new improved camera usable for taking pictures.

- It had a virtual console that let you play ALMOST every game ever made for any Nintendo console (except for Virtual Boy).

Miiverse Next[]

Miiverse Next was a social media platform built into your own Wii U Next with YouTube. Here you can post or talk with other people with the comments and import images and videos into your favorite community.
Miiverse U was temporaly shut down on 12 April 2024 due to too many protests from Twitter users for too much resemblance to Twitter, and too many protests from parents of their children who became communists after using the social network after two minutes. It was reopened on 14 April 2024.
Pictochat Next[]
Pictochat Next is a communication utility that is preinstalled on all the Wii U Next console family. Up to 500 people can paint and/or text chat with each other using it, connected wirelessly through internet or LAN-Only connection. It allows for simple input of keyboard text and written text/drawings.
Functions[]
The Wii U Next gamepad's touch screen is used to type in letters with an on-screen keyboard or to draw and send pictures. Text can also be manually placed on the screen, if the user drags the selected character onto the message area.
Controversies[]
There was a 1 in 800 chance that a virus was installed on your Wii U Next that displayed an image of beans and blew up your console if Pictochat U was opened on 1 April, 2024. This has brought a lot of protests.
There was a 1 in 400 chance that there was a Mario jumpscare popping up if you opened Pictochat U or Miiverse U on Halloween. This has also brought a lot of protests against Nintendo.

Wii U Next XL Edition[]
Wii U Next XL Edition is a new redesign of the Wii U Next, released on 5 December 2023. It features a bigger GamePad with a bigger screen and a better touch-screen support. Its price was 350 dollars.
Wii U Next Lite Edition[]
Wii U Next Lite Edition is a new redesign of the Wii U Next, released on 5 December 2023. It features a smaller GamePad with a smaller screen and it was digital-only. Its price was 250 dollars.
IQue U Next Edition[]
IQue U Next Edition was a new redesign of the Wii U Next, released by IQue Ltd. for the China market on 16 May 2024. Its the same as the original Wii U Next, but there wasn't Youtube or Miiverse. Also, it only features a total of 10 games avaliable.
Firmware[]
The Nintendo Wii U Next runs on a custom-made operating system named "Cafetteria" or "NeXT System", built on a microkernel architecture. The Wii U Next's user interface features tile-based access to games that are either present in the game card slot or stored within the unit's storage devices. A single U Next console supports up to eight user profiles, which each can be tied to a Nintendo Account user ID. Profiles can be represented by either a pre-made avatar from an internal gallery, or using a Mii. The Mii creator was upgraded with increased color options for aspects such as hair styles and it is integrated into the profile settings.

- Editions
Basic Edition[]
Classic edition of the console, with 32GB of memory and with two USB ports, available in four colours: white, black, red and blue. There are also special console versions with other games pre-installed, such as the Mario Edition and Zelda Edition.
Memory Extention[]
It has 128GB of memory and three USB ports instead of the two of the basic version. It is available in six colors: white, black, gold, red, blue and pink. There are also other limited editions that have even more memory, such as the Sonic Edition which has 200GB and the Yoshi Edition with 256GB.
Homebrew[]
The Wii U Next is very easy to modify. The easiest method to install a custom firmware is "CFW Espresso", which requires a USB device and a computer. Installing a custom firmware allows players to download free games, custom menu themes, modified applications, emulators for other consoles, and install fan-rehosted services that where closed or services that were never created for the console. However, installing custom firmware was also dangerous: in addition to the ability to brick your console, Nintendo made many updates against piracy and firmware changes.
After Market[]
After the Wii U Next was withdrawn from the market and the Eshop services were closed, Degenatron Arts decided to release a modification kit of the Wii U Next, called "Next CFW" which allowed you to install a custom firmware safely without the possibility of bricking the console.
Sales[]
The console was successful in his homeland since its launch: the Wii U Next sold 520.000 units in its first week in Japan, making it the biggest launch of a console in the country. In North America, stocks were sold out within a week: all 850.500 units were sold in Canada and America. It also did well in Europe selling 321.320 units in its first week, surpassing the Xbox Series X's 320.200 sales, but failed to surpass the PlayStation 5's 345.000 units. In November 2023, a report of Nintendo announced that the Wii U Next already sold 10 million units in one year. By mid-2024, Nintendo managed to sell a total of 19 million units. At the time, It outsold the original Wii U. The sales-to-production ratio said that sales were higher than production, with 140 sales per minute and 100 consoles produced per minute. Sales dropped because of this. Nintendo increased production to 300 per minute and raised the price of consoles by $50 temporarily until mid-June 2024. That year, Nintendo opened a summer project called the "2024 Nintendo Summer Project," where it featured new games and new updates to the console and new editions of the console.
