Not to be confused with Super Mario Multiverse.

Super Mario: Multiverse Mayhem is a 3D game similar to Super Mario Odyssey.

Plot[]

Mario is sleeping on a chair in the living room of his house, when all of a sudden Luigi barges in unceremoniously, screaming hysterically. Mario wakes up and follows Luigi. When he opens up the front door, he finds out what Luigi was afraid of. The sky was filled with rifts! Mario rushes into town to find a way to close the rifts, when a large (nay, HUGE) group of Toads stampede from the castle and trample over Mario. Looking at the castle, it explodes into what seems like code (one of them being var shape = { 'nodes': nodes, 'edges': edges };). Mario runs for his life, but the ground beneath him also turns to code and he falls into the black pit known as “The Void”, and the screen goes black. We then find Mario lying on the ground in a black room. A blue Luma wakes him up, and introduces herself as Uni. Uni tells Mario that he is at “The Center of the Multiverse” or “Center Base”. Mario then stands up, revealing he is standing on a white, circular platform on a larger yellow platform surrounded by rifts. The game’s logo appears, and Mario eventually stabilizes all the rifts and confronts the boss, Mega Morphisis.

Gameplay[]

Gameplay is similar to Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Odyssey (traveling to different worlds to obtain objects and the like), but has a new feature calls “Rift Shift”, allowing you to shift your partner via a special orb given by Uni after you defeat the Red Baron in “Snoopy’s Universe”.

Trivia[]

  • Nintendo states that “this will be the biggest crossover event in history, bigger than Smash Bros., Animation Altercation, and Stampede Breakfast”. The reason why is that not only because playable characters are from different series, but at least 1,000 different NPCs in total will be in the game, each from the franchises from the playable characters.
  • Nintengavision stated that "it won't be as big as Super Smash Bros Ultimate Definitive Deluxe Edition".
