Tournaments[]
There are 5 different tournaments. A tournament is unlocked after winning the previous one. First is the Mushroom Tournament, which is the easiest tournament in the game. If the player wins this tournament, they unlock the Flower Tournament and Bowser Jr. The Flower Tournament is fairly easy. If the player wins, they unlock the Leaf Tournament and Dry Bones. The Leaf Tournament has a moderate difficulty. Winning it unlocks the Star Tournament and King Boo. The Star Tournament is difficult and winning it unlocks Dixie Kong and the Rainbow Tournament, the final tournament in the game. The Rainbow Tournament is the hardest in the game. If the player manages to win, they unlock Dry Bowser.
QR Codes[]
Like Mario Tennis Open, there are QR Codes to unlock exclusive features. On the first weekend after the release of the game, a QR Code was released that unlocked Paratroopa in the game. Red Yoshi was released at E3, Red Koopa Troopa was released at the Nintendo Connection Tour and Blue Toad was released in Club Nintendo.
