The Magma Shell is a power-up in the Super Mario series. It grants players the ability to swim in lava and slide around like a Koopa Troopa (which produces flames behind them when they use it).

Super Mario: Elemental Journey[]
The Magma Shell debuts in this game, which sets the basics as to how it works. It is very similar to the Blue Shell power-up, but it spawns flames behind the character as they slide and allows them to swim in lava.
The Blue Shell does not stack if the player obtains it with the Magma Shell- the Blue Shell will replace the Magma Shell and it's effects if obtained.
Super Mario 3D Challenge[]
The Magma Shell reappears in Super Mario 3D Challenge as a support item; it has basically the same function it did in Super Mario: Elemental Journey but with a new weakness to water.
Stampede Breakfast In SPACE![]
Appears as item in Stampede Breakfast In SPACE!, which explodes on impact with other players when thrown.
