Plot[]

The game features several different Story Modes, which you can unlock by earning "Jojolity" in levels by staying accurate to the actual fights. The modes include...

Super Story Mode[]

Super Story Mode is the longest Story and also the one you start out with. It covers the chronicles of Giorno Giovanna, the son of the infamous Dio Brando, and his quest to become a "Gangstar" to help those in need using the power the position grants him. Along the way he joins up with the group "Passione" and convinces them to help reach his goals by overthrowing the boss Diavolo, who sends a ton of assassins after them to try and keep his rank. The Super Story Mode covers the entire part, from Giorno's encounter (and theft) with Koichi, to the final battle against Diavolo using the ultimate stand, Gold Experience Requiem.

Bonus: The Morioh Killer[]

Play through the final bits of Part 4, taking place 10 years before Part 5, as Josuke Higashikata, Koichi Hirose, and Jotaro Kujo, battle Yoshikage Kira, the infamous explosive murderer.

Bonus: Sins of the Father[]

This asks the ultimate question: What if Dio met his son, Giorno? It's an epic battle between Son and Father as Giorno rejects his fate to create his own, against his fathers wishes.

Gameplay[]

Note: Credit to the Jojo wiki for some of the gameplay bits!

The basic gameplay mechanics are those of a standard fighting game: one-on-one battles consisting of two or three time-limited rounds, in which the goal is to deplete the adversary's health bar using both regular attacks as well as character-specific special and super moves, which require the input of button combinations and/or spending accumulated energy, outputted in a power gauge which fills with every time damage is dealt or taken.

The game uses a simplified 4-button control scheme, consisting of three attacks (light, medium, and heavy) and a Stand button, which switches the character's Stand On and Off.

Fighting with the Stand Mode "On" enhances both the character's offensive and defensive abilities; these improvements heavily depend on the character and Stand, but some common ones are for example double jumping, absorbing residual damage when blocking special attacks, powered-up special moves, etc.

Most of the game's specific mechanics derive from the introduced Stand Mode. For example, attacking the physical manifestation of the opponent's Stand will mirror the effects to its wielder; this is a crucial strategic element, since many of the special moves and attacks send the Stand away from the User, adding the difficulty of protecting both of them at the same time; if a main character is damaged while their Stand is far away, the damage received is doubled. On top of the usual health bar and power gauge, there is a third meter, the Stand Gauge, which decreases when the Stand is damaged and refills when the Stand Mode is switched off; if this gauge is depleted, a Stand Crash takes effect, and the character is paralyzed and wide open to any attack for an instant.

One of the game's biggest mechanics is the Requiem's Will mechanic. At low health, if you have over 4 bars of Jojolity, the character's theme will play as they gain a boost in attack, defense, and speed. Using this correctly can turn a losing battle into a fantastic victory.

Game Modes[]

Gamemodes
Duel Mode
In Duel Mode, you and a friend or CPU can duke it out in a heated battle to see who's skills are superior. There are three types of "battle styles": One on One where all players use only one character, Two on Two, where both players use two characters each that they swap between, and Damage Build, where the players try to deal the most damage to each other before the timer runs out, with the player who dealt the most winning. You can also create a custom ruleset before the match begins, like how much health everyone has or who is banned.
Arcade Mode
In Arcade Mode, fight your way through multiple rounds of enemies before squaring off against a powerful opponent. Four difficulties stand in your way, with each having its own amount of opponents: Easy = 5 Matches, Normal = 7 Matches, Hard = 9 Matches, Passione = 11 Matches, and Gangstar = 15 Matches. At the end of all of them, you normally battle against Diavolo, but here's a secret: beat difficulty Hard, Passione, or Gangstar without losing a single match and finishing Diavolo off with a Level 4, you'll unlock a battle against Dio!
Endurance Mode
In Endurance Mode, you battle through an endless hoard of opponents in order to see how many opponents you can defeat before losing a match. Winning a match will restore a bit of health, but as you go on you'll regain less and less health between matches. Winning every 10th match however will always restore half your health.
Customize Mode
In Customize Mode, customize your profile and character to your liking! Character customization allows you to create a custom recolor of characters and edit what they say when using certain actions.
Online Mode
In Online Mode, it's you vs the world! Battle online against a friend or anyone around the world. Three different modes await: Casual are meant for fun, non-serious matches for those looking for a good time. Ranked is for more competitive players, having you battle others to climb up the ranks. And Lobby lets you create a lobby for anyone to join, complete with custom rulesets.
Dio's World Mode
Welcome...to DIOS WORLD! Here, play through an extremely difficult Arcade Mode, filled with hard as nails AI and a whopping 10 matches, before coming to blows with Dio Brando, with an exclusive ability: Halting Time! Think you're a big enough Gangstar to win this impossible challenge?!

Story Mode Stages[]

There are multiple different Story Modes to play through, but at the beginning only one is available from the start, that being the Super Story Mode. To unlock the other stories, you must gain points from doing well in levels. You can get points by winning matches, landing supers, and avoiding enough damage. If you want a ton of points, then you can try and do "Secret Factors", which are events triggered by doing certain things, most of which happened in the manga. Once you get enough points, a new Story will be unlocked. Please note that Super Story Mode and "Bonus: The Morioh Killer" are the only Stories with Secret Factors.

The costs of Story Modes include:

  • Super Story Mode: Free and available from the beginning
