Phoenix | |
---|---|
No name is more well-known within the walls of a courtroom than that of Phoenix Wright, ace attorney. Wright's almost a celebrity within the legal world, as he's a defence attorney willing to pursue the truth, even if it means his client is guilty. He may be the one in charge of the Wright Anything Agency, but that doesn't mean he's always in control of the case he's defending; in fact, most of the time, it's the prosecutor's mistakes that help Wright discover the truth. With a mighty point and a solid "Objection!", Phoenix Wright won't be handing in his attorney's badge (again) anytime soon. | |
Phoenix (alt.) | |
Unlike many of the prosecutors he faces up against, it may surprise some to learn that Phoenix Wright isn't actually all that adept when it comes to combat. In the courtroom he's definitely a force to be reckoned with, but in battle? That's a different story. What he does in battle can hardly be called "fighting"; throwing dogs, sneezing to propel himself upwards, and yelling "Hold It!" certainly can only be described as "unconventional" at best. Still, he shouldn't be taken lightly- once he gets his Final Smash, prepare to be handed a deadly Verdict! | |
Verdict | |
It's not uncommon for people to have dreams (or nightmares) about their professions, and Phoenix Wright is no different. In Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All, a nightmare sees Phoenix Wright standing on a rocky cliff looking up at a large, silhouetted version of the judge that often presides over his trials. Getting hit by a gavel carried by such a large judge would definitely hurt... which is exactly why it's Wright's Final Smash! That is, assuming he manages to hit someone with his large "Objection!" speech bubble first. | |
Franziska von Karma | |
Throughout 2017, Phoenix Wright often butted heads against the daughter of the ruthless prosecutor Manfred von Karma: Franziska von Karma. She follows in her father's footsteps, wishing to even surpass his tremendous (yet often underhanded) skills when it comes to getting a guity verdict. With such an impressive father figure, it's no surprise to anyone that she may have a bit of an ego - those she deems inferior are disgraced by her as "foolishly foolish fools" and whipped - though it's no help that she's also considered a prodigy, and has become a well-known prosecutor despite being only 19 years old. | |
Miles Edgeworth | |
For four years, Miles Edgeworth held a spotless win record as an undefeated prosecutor mentored by the late Manfred von Karma... and then came along Phoenix Wright. Before facing off against his childhood friend in court, Edgeworth held the mentality that victory was everything, but that slowly began to shift as Phoenix Wright earned "Not Guilty" verdicts and forced Edgeworth to take a good look at himself. That doesn't mean he's quit prosecuting - he's actually the Chief Prosecutor of an LA prosecutor's office. This means he's not in the courtroom as often as he once was, but that doesn't mean he won't make appearances when he needs to. | |
Larry Butz | |
When something smells, it's usually the Butz... and that's not a lie. Though he's a good friend of both Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright, unlike them he's often getting into trouble. He's been framed for murder, witnesses to murder... well, he doesn't exactly have the best luck. His unluckiness continues into his social life too - he's not exactly had the best track record with trying to find a girlfriend... or keeping a job. He's been a hot dog vendor, an actor, and a security guard. Perhaps he's finally found his calling as a picture book artist (though he goes under the pseudonym of Laurice Deauxnim) so things may eventually turn around for him. | |
Judge | |
In every courtroom are three main figures: the defence, the prosecution, and the honourable judge. Well, he SHOULD be honourable, but the judge that presides over most of Phoenix Wright's cases can be a little scatterbrained. He's naïve and gullible, and the prosecution usually use his quirks to confuse him and lure him onto their side. Ironically, he's actually fairly close with Phoenix Wright and has picked up quite a bit about his private life just from the court cases he's presided over. We may not know this judge's name - even his business card is legible - but we do know that he has a younger brother that lives in Canada. |
