A Bomb Boo is an explosive, black-colored variety of Boos. They debut in Super Mario Galaxy, where they appear in Ghostly Galaxy, lazily floating around. Mario and Luigi can Star Spin to grab them by the tongue and swing them around until they hit something, causing them to explode. If they hold onto a Bomb Boo for too long, they will explode. They are necessary to defeat the boss Bouldergeist during the missions Beware of Bouldergeist and Bouldergeist's Daredevil Run. Bomb Boos reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Boss Blitz Galaxy alongside Bouldergeist, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions as enemies and controllable units in the new Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser mode.
Notable fanon Bomb Boos include Bombell and Bombella, who are actually fusions between Bomb Boos and Bob-ombs.
