Adrian- the Cyberpunk Curse is an action-adventure game with RPG elements for the Playstation 6, described as the PS6's cyberpunk answer to Nintendo's Zelda.
It's set in Rosengard, the futuristic capital city of Japan in the year 2087, and it stars a Ronin known as Adrian al-Gakt as he tries to solve the mystery of the death of Bruno Conte, save a high school student who has been kidnapped and the mysterious lifeforms called Demons which appear from the depths of the earth to attack the city.
Plot[]
In a future of ultracapitalism, where each corporation has their own private army called Samurai, Adrian is a Ronin, AKA a bandit from the slums who is unaffiliated with any corporation. Adrian's wife Selise has found out that a man named Bruno Conte has been found dead with a sword wound in the Gokcek District and the private police force of Zayin Arms has pinned the blame on Adrian (as Adrian uses a katana). Adrian goes to investigate about Bruno and finds out that he had watched men from Zayin Arms kidnapping a student from the Yildiz Kalesi High School.

Characters[]
Adrian al-Gakt: A Ronin who makes his hideout in Gluk Street in the slum Khabub. Unlike many ronins, he has a code of honor which keeps him from robbing poor people and instead he kills and robs other Ronins and megacorporations. He uses a hi-tech armor called Olumsuzluk Zirh ("Armor of Immortality" in Japanese) which he had stolen from Zayin Arms (equipped with a sword and various guns), and considers the van Rijn Family of Yakuza to be his sworn enemies.
Selise Gursoy: Adrian's wife and a skilled hacker, originally a Samurai for Urvan Corporation who left and decided to help people in the slums. She acts as mission control for Adrian and allows him to commit cybercrimes and steal from the net (as the net is private, people who lack permits from the corporations which own the websites cannot buy anything nor do anything).
Tomorbataar Schneider:
Orhan van Rijn: President of Zayin Arms and heir to the Yakuza clan van Rijn.
Napoli no Akuma/Takeshi Shinonome: An Italian boy wearing prosthetic legs who has a knack for sniping. He looks 24 but is said to have dark powers and have fought the Camorra in Napoli in 2007 (Napoli no Akuma being Italian for "demon of Naples" and translates to Japanese as "al-Iblisi de Nablus"), he's feared by the Yakuza but he seems to have come to Japan for another reason.
Bruno Conte: An information broker who has been found dead in Rosengard's Gokcek district.
Elise Naranbataar: Adrian's master, also known as al-Altin Kurtgarou (the Golden Werewolf). He roams Rosengard to fight against the megacorporations.
Nagehan Dion: A student of Yildiz Kalesi High School who was chosen to work as a miko at the Al-Zabuq temple after Grand Dervish Kramer found out that she got psionic powers. Adrian frees her from an attempt by the Yakuza Van Rijn Family to capture her and use her psionic powers (much higher than usual). She's another playable character alongside Adrian, using various Demons she controls to do the fighting for her.
al-Ass de Selemar ("the Ace of Swords" in Japanese): a mysterious, apparently mute serial killer who wields a heavy blade which can be split into a katana and multiple one-handed blades which can also be remote-controlled.
Sadiq Kremer: The Grand Dervish of the shinto temple of Al-Zabuq and head of the Shinto Church. He chose Nagehan as a miko because he found
Mimmo Atishar: A J-Pop idol.
Trivia[]
- The name Adrian of the protagonist and the Gluk Street where he lives in came from a notoriously bad Italian anime called Adrian (made by an Italian singer from the 70s-80s who has become obscure), where the protagonist lives in Gluck Street in Milan. His last name Al-Gakt comes from Gackt, a Japanese metal musician.
- Bruno Conte was named after Giacomo Conte from the video game Kuro no Kiseki. Giacomo was Calvardian (AKA Chinese/French) despite his Italian name, and likewise Bruno Conte is Japanese despite his Italian-sounding name.
- The Japanese spoken in this game is a mishmash of French, Dutch, Swedish, Mongolian, Arabic and Turkish. It's intentional, as Japanese are Turks but actual Japanese language does not sound Turkish. Rosengard's architecture looks mostly Middle Eastern, with the enormous shinto Temple of Al-Zabuq being reminiscent of the Kaaba in Mecca.
- Mimmo Atishar is a reference to Japanese idol Mimmo Cavallaro (Atish being Turkish for "Horse", which in Italian is "cavallo") who is largely unknown outside Japan.
