Profile[]

Fourth Angel's body is a tall and thin humanoid body, slightly larger than an Evangelion, which functions on both land and in water. Its proportions do not match those of a human; its arms are long enough to reach below its knees and its legs and feet are elongated and disproportionate. It lacks a proper humanoid head and neck, but like other Angels, contains a core in the center of its solar plexus. Its head, barely mobile, appeared to primarily be made of bone and is structured much like a bird's, even having a long beak. After the Angel regenerates from the N mine, a second head emerges from its body, with a shorter beak than the first, pushing the first one slightly upwards. Fourth Angel has red irises, which are able to be seen deep within its head in the eye sockets. Fourth Angel possesses blood of a bluish-purple color, making it unique among Angels for whom blood has been observed.

Unusual among Angels, Fourth Angel possesses a respiration system based in the thighs and crotch, breathing in through gills in the thighs and exhaling through a set of nostril in the crotch area. Said gills also serve as an underwater propulsion system. The Angel's natural weaponry consist of two lance-like bone structures that extend from its forearms and are shown to be able to be energized to increase their destructive capability. These are physical structures that serve as the Angel's ulna or outer arm bone. After the Angel regenerates from the N² Mine attack, it develops the ability to fire a long-range energy blast from the eyes of its second face, which results in crucifix-shaped spikes of energy. While not a flight-capable Angel itself, Fourth Angel demonstrates the ability to use its own A.T. Field to enhance its jumping ability to great lengths. Fourth Angel is also capable of altering its body shape and muscle mass, increasing it when under strain. As a last resort, it can wrap itself into a ball around its opponent and self-destruct.

History[]

Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone[]

Fourth Angel's Halo (Rebuild)

The Fourth Angel

Fourth Angel's role in Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone is largely the same as its role in the TV series.

Its design is almost identical with few apparent modifications; however, some minor differences can be seen. Most obviously, when making its A.T. Field-assisted jump, a large halo appears briefly above its head. Additionally, upon revealing its second face, casting its A.T. Field, and prior to dying, the eyes of Fourth Angel's second face glow a bright red. Another minor design change includes a blood color change from blue to red to correspond with the other Angels.

It is first seen attacking Tokyo-3, the Angel makes its way towards the fortified city and engages in combat with Evangelion Test Type-01 during its first operational mission.

Evangelion: Hakata Angel Attack Alternative[]

The Fourth Angel is confirmed near the coast of the Genkai Sea, then it attacks the NERV Fukuoka branch of “New Fukuoka City”. As the city defenses fires at it, without causing any damage, Asuka appears in her Evangelion Production Model-02 holding a N² missile and charges towards the Angel, but is stopped by the Angel's A.T. Field. Even with the boosters of the missile working, it is not enough and they are halted, causing it to explode, lauching the Evangelion away as it crashed into a building.

Rei Ayanami and Evangelion Proto Type-00' is sent to the battle via the underground tunnels. There she grabs the Positron Cannon and fires at the Angel, breaking the A.T. Field and hurting it. Not long after this, a new face emerges from the Fourth Angel and launches a beam at Rei. Shinji Ikari and Evangelion Test Type-01, holding the Enchanted Shield of Virtue protects her. Misato decides to retreat and orders to destroy the bars holding the city block into the underground. However the Fourth Angel moves quickly in and gets hold of Unit-01 and starts trying to pierce its head with a lance-like bone. Unit-01 reactivates itself and breaks the attacking bone with their teeth. It starts entering the process of Pseudo-Awakening, rising to the skies initiating an Impact event. The Angel launches a beam again but is stopped by Unit-01's A.T. Field, it attempts to get closer in and keeps attacking Unit-01 as the EVA's Field still holds the attack.

Mari and Evangelion Production Model Custom Type-08β appears holding the Spear of Longinus launches it at the dual head of the Fourth Angel, making it fall limp as if it was dead. Unit-01 removes the Spear and pierce the core of the Angel, it quickly recovers and cover Unit-01's body, expanding and shortly exploding and causing a cross-shaped rainbow, indicating the demise of the Angel and also stoping the Impact event.[1]

Transformers Mode "EVA"[]

Starscream ends up possessing the Fourth Angel during it's attack on Tokyo-3 after the Autobots arrived. The Fourth Angel was killed by Optimus Prime who ripped out it's core.

Trivia[]

  • In Transformers Mode "EVA"’s illustration it shows the Angel possessed by Starscream’s ghost has cues of the Fourth Angel which implies it might been the Fourth Angel that Starscream was possessing here.
