- Since cornu also appears in the dative as cornui, I think it'd be best for the chart to reflect that. I don't know how to make that change, though. 3charles3 (talk) 15:35, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- That's probably only a form of "cornus, ūs, m.". --21:13, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
Arabic
[edit]Can we find any reference relating it to the Arabic word قرن Qarn which means horn? This is a very old word from Classical Arabic that is still in use now. --112.199.130.236 18:05, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- No, we cannot. The relation of Proto-Semitic *ḳarn- would be too distant for humans of today to know anything. Fay Freak (talk) 18:49, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Agreed. The root goes back to early attestations in multiple branches of the Indo-European family, and I don't doubt the same is true for Proto-Semitic. If it isn't a coincidence, that would mean interaction between the ancestors of both families that would have been thousands of years before the Arabs even existed.
