1. (para-IPA) an (oral) palatal click; superseded by ⟨ǂ⟩.
2. (superscript ⟨𐞿⟩, IPA) [𝼋]-coloring, or a weak, fleeting or epenthetic [𝼋]-release.

Linguists who used the old IPA click letters ⟨ʇ ʖ ʗ⟩ would use ⟨𝼋⟩ for palatal clicks, but that letter was never officially adopted by the IPA. (The old IPA letter ⟨ʞ⟩ was intended for this purpose, but had been misanalyzed as 'velar' and never used.)

In IPA, a full transcription of a click consonant requires a second letter to specify whether the rear closure is velar or uvular, and whether the click is voiced or nasal:

The tie bar may be omitted, and the accompanying letter may be superscripted.

If the order is reversed, e.g. ⟨𝼋͜q⟩, that may imply that the velar or uvular release is audible (delayed release).

Beach used simple ⟨𝼋⟩ for the Khoekhoe voiceless oral click [k͜𝼋] and ⟨𝼌⟩ for the voiced nasal click [ŋ͜𝼋].
