When reviewing the mentioned draft for AfC, I notice you left a comment, on a previous version of this draft. If you can remember, I'm interested in what it was. Ktkvtsh (talk) 03:51, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry that was 18 months ago! Probably something along the lines of failing WP:NORG? Theroadislong (talk) 08:29, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Most likely. As you saw, I have declined it. Thanks for the reply! Hope you have a great Friday. Ktkvtsh (talk) 15:11, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Approval of Alireza Jadidi(musician)article

[edit]

Hello, I translated this article and added two sources to it, one of the sources is an independent article about him about his definition of instrumental music. Draft:Alireza Jadidi (musician) Combanatc (talk) 18:19, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It's still not clear how they would pass WP:NMUSICIAN? Theroadislong (talk) 18:21, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is because he is known for his cooperation in expanding the style of instrumental music and electronic dance genre in Iran, and he is one of the pioneering Iranian musicians in this style. Combanatc (talk) 18:28, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
He passes paragraph number 7 in NMUSICIAN, because he is one of the pioneers of instrumental music in Iran, and music in Iran is severely restricted, and he has released the first album of Iranian instrumental music in the electronic dance genre. About the Draft: Ghulam Ariqul Alam

[edit]

Its a legit army officers biography. I know him personally. Pls accept the article but st this point i dont have any reference link or whatsoever. I do have some magazines of him in google which you can search by his name. It was during the time he was a colonel. 103.163.51.45 (talk) 12:00, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft Draft:Ghulam Ariqul Alam has only one source and no indication of passing WP:GNG, if you know him then you have a conflict of interest which you should declare on your user page. Theroadislong (talk) 16:08, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lee Hockstader draft article

[edit]

Dear Theroadislong,

Please let me know if my latest revision of the LEE HOCKSTADER draft article has been received. I updated it twice yesterday (February 15). The second update was a few hours after you had rejected the first update. I hit the SUBMIT button on the second update but see no acknowledgment that it was received. The new draft is substantially longer than the rejected draft and contains 40 footnotes.

Some background: An earlier draft of the same article had been rejected by your colleague Flat Out. Yesterday I looked for the rejected draft in order to update it with substantial new material that I believe would make the article acceptable to Wikipedia. But the only way I could access that draft was to hit the RESUBMIT button, thus sending back the rejected draft with no changes. Once I had access, I updated the draft article and submitted it again.

Please let me know if Wikipedia editors now have access to it.

Thanks,

Draft:Joffe_Books_(publisher)== Request for Feedback on Revised Joffe Books Draft ==

Thank you for taking the time to review my draft of Joffe Books. I appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to improve the article. I have made significant revisions to address your concerns about notability and sourcing. Specifically:

✅ 1. Added Multiple Independent, Reliable Sources

[edit]

The article now includes significant coverage from reputable, independent sources: - *The Bookseller*: Coverage of acquisitions (Choc Lit, Lume Books) and company profile. - *Publishers Weekly*: Report on Joffe Books’ expansion through acquisitions. - *FAD Magazine*: Interview-based profile on founder Jasper Joffe and the company's history. - *Amazon (via press)*: Recognition of Joffe Books authors Joy Ellis and Faith Martin as Kindle Unlimited bestsellers.

All sources are reliable, secondary, and independent of the subject, meeting WP:GNG and WP:RS.

🏆 2. Demonstrated Notability with Industry Achievements

[edit]

- **Awards:**

 - *Trade Publisher of the Year*, Independent Publishing Awards (2023)
 - *People's Book Prize for Best Publisher* (2024)

- **Acquisitions:** Expanded catalog with notable publishers *Choc Lit* and *Lume Books* (covered by *Publishers Weekly* and *The Bookseller*). - **Bestselling Authors:** Published *Joy Ellis* and *Faith Martin*, two of the most-read authors on Kindle Unlimited (Amazon coverage).

These accomplishments establish industry notability per WP:ORGCRIT and WP:COMPANY.

📝 3. Improved Structure and Neutrality

[edit]

- **Organized** the article with clear sections (*History, Awards, Publications*). - **Removed promotional language**, ensuring a neutral, encyclopedic tone. - **Properly formatted citations** using the recommended templates.

---

🙏 Request for Your Feedback

[edit]

I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on these improvements. If you have time, could you please review the revised draft or let me know if there are any additional adjustments needed to meet Wikipedia’s standards?

Thank you so much for your time and guidance!

Best regards,

assorted profiles, interviews and Amazon are clearly NOT reliable independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 17:22, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry didn't see this and posted again.
I don't understand. *The Bookseller* and *Publishers Weekly* are reliable and independent sources.

    - The Bookseller (company profile and acquisitions)
    - Publishers Weekly (Choc Lit acquisition coverage)
    - FAD Magazine (founder profile and company history)
    - Amazon (bestselling author recognition)

All sources are independent and provide significant coverage per WP:RS and WP:GNG.

David Rogers (musician)

[edit]

Hey Roadislong,

I left the article YOU APPROVED up for over a year.

Now that I voluntarily update it to give it more encyclopedic tone, YOU CUT SO MUCH INFORMATION OUT.

What is your problem? Why are you targeting my page???? I'm just doing my best to make sure a notable Hawaiian musician is remembered. You're taking all the information out of my article! Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 11:33, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The entire article was untouched and unedited for a year. You APPROVED IT!
Then another volunteer editor marked it for "inappropriate tone", and I edited it, and you're DELETING SO MUCH INFORMATION!
Had I done nothing, the entire article would still have been up! Why are you targeting me! Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 11:35, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is NOT your page, it is Wikipedia's article about David Rogers. We are not interested in ensuring a notable musician is remembered, we merely neutrally report what reliable, independent sources say about a topic. I have taken out unsourced puffery and edited the article per WP:MOS. Theroadislong (talk) 11:38, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's an article YOU Approved, that ANOTHER volunteer editor later marked "inappropriate tone, not encyclopedic. Someone help revise."
Then I revise it and even shorten it, and you hack it back a further 33%.
We went through this hassle the first time, I KNOW you didn't read the sources. I did.
You caught me in the middle of editing the article and slashed sentences I may have missed citations for. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 12:06, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to put all that "unsourced puffery" and source it. Why? Because it was in the SOURCE. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 12:07, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:BATTLEGROUND that sort of editing is likely to lead to a block. Theroadislong (talk) 12:14, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You did not read the published books. You literally cut out sentences that were cited in the sources and claimed they were unsourced.
How is that objective?
I had legitimate sources and citations. You deleted the sentences and called it "unsourced puffery". That is simply unjust and bad form on your behalf. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 12:44, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I removed unsourced puffery here [1] and removed sourced but inappropriate tone here [2] and chatty content like “Rogers’s contributions went beyond performance” and “his influence extended far beyond Hawai’i’s shores” is NOT appropriate for an encyclopaedia. Theroadislong (talk) 12:54, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"Rogers helped shape the sound of modern Hawaiian steel guitar and left a lasting impact on the music community"
That's literally what it says from being an Inductee into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame. It's a legitimate source. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 13:01, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't bother to verify the legitimacy of the source, you just assumed that it was puffery.
You didn't do your proper due diligence. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 13:02, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
then it needs to be added as a quote NOT in Wikipedia's voice. Theroadislong (talk) 13:04, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If that's the case, you could have put it in a quote instead of delete.
This is why it is obvious that you're not behaving in a fair and impartial manner. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 13:08, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you think I have acted incorrectly feel free to report me to WP:ANI and get other opinions. Theroadislong (talk) 13:14, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
{{subst:ANI-notice}}
I will be reporting you to WP:ANI. Other opinions are needed on this matter.
You are applying an extremely heavy hand towards edits that meet Wikipedia's guidelines. Thepublicschoolmusician (talk) 20:44, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
the Hawaiian music hall of fame is a legitimate source of notability per wikipedia's guideline. It is a legitimate 501c3 non profit with a board of directors.

Notable Awards

[edit]

Asking to prioritize the awards is tough. A film festival may receive two or three thousand submissions., select only seventy films to be shown, and give ten awards. So, just being selected is "notable." Jaulikfoster (talk) 16:51, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notable awards in this context are those that have their own Wikipedia articles. Theroadislong (talk) 16:53, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I just did a quick check and none of them had Wikipedia articles. Jaulikfoster (talk) 16:58, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Which means they do not contribute to passing the criteria at WP:NFILM. Theroadislong (talk) 17:01, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's my understanding that a biographical film about a notable person(s) satisfies the requirements. There's already a Wikipedia article about Dick Gregory. There are numerous articles and interviews about Shalisa Davis setting the world record in running marathons on seven continents. Likewise, there are numerous articles and interviews about Anthony Reed becoming the first Black in the world to complete marathons on seven continents. And there are numerous articles about Ron Gregory's NCAA All-American track and cross country accomplishments.
Also, a number of the film festivals have been around for over twenty years, which lends to their credibility. Jaulikfoster (talk) 17:29, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also the notability article states, "The general notability guideline states: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list." This documentary clearly satisfies this requirement. Jaulikfoster (talk) 17:31, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Nikolaos Zormpas

Hello! Thanks for your kind comment and for pointing me to the right direction. Researching for wiki supported sources for this author to increase the credibility, what about the recommendations coming by Joseph Michelli(Joseph Michelli) and Chip Conley(Chip Conley) ? Could they possibly add the missing parts?

"All leaders and managers need to read Customer Escalations Management. This well-written, easily accessible book provides powerful and practical tools to develop systems and organizational competencies that will turn service breakdowns into customer experience breakthroughs. When you leverage the power of Customer Escalations Management, your team members and customers will thank you!"

By Joseph Michelli, Ph.D. - New York Times #1 Bestselling author of books like Stronger Through Adversity, The Airbnb Way, and The Starbucks Experience

"Nikolaos' book is a must have tool for any company wanting to thrive in customer satisfaction and retention. Make sure to add the ingredients of his golden recipe to your arsenal."

Amazon reviews are not reliable independent sources, the draft was rejected so it's probably time to WP:DROPTHESTICK and move on. Theroadislong (talk) 15:59, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please allow me to clarify that these are not amazon reviews but testimonials coming from well known figures featured on wiki and giving credibility to the author. Selavatin (talk) 16:10, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, Readers Favorite is an extremely well known award contest which had also awarded the actor Jim Carrey - https://readersfavorite.com/rfreviews/search?search=jim+carrey Selavatin (talk) 16:19, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
None of that helps with notability as far as I can see, but it is User:Gheus that you need to convince as he was the rejecting editor. Theroadislong (talk) 16:23, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
