The Sony Xperia XZ is an Android smartphone manufactured and marketed by Sony.[2] Part of the Xperia X series, the phone was announced to the public along with the Xperia X Compact at a press conferences which was held at IFA 2016 on September 1, 2015.[3]

The phone serves as the successor of the Xperia X Performance and it is the first phone manufactured by Sony which utilizes USB Type-C connectivity for charging and data transfer.[4] Unlinke it's predecessors, the rear camera of the phone utilizes laser and phase detection autofocus along with a RGB sensor for accurate colors.[5]

Specifications

Hardware

The phone body design consist of plastic frame with metallic finish on the back of the phone.[6] The back of the phone is made up of aluminium alloy which is marketed as Alakeido, which was engineered to produce better shine and depth properties of the metal. The front side of the phone is covered with Gorilla Glass 4 to protect the screen.[5]

The dimensions of the phone measures with the height of 146 mm (5.7 in), width of 72 mm (2.8 in) and the depth of 8.1 mm (0.32 in). It weights at 161 g (5.7 oz).[7] The phone features a 5.2 in (130 mm) 1080p IPS LCD dispaly with a density of 424 ppi, featuring Sony's "Triluminos" technology.[8] It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) processor at 2.15 GHz and the graphics is powered by Adreno 530 which is clocked at 624 MHz.[7] The device also has 32 GB internal storage with microSD card expansion up to 256 GB and it includes a non-removable 2900 mAh battery along with USB Type-C connector and Qnovo adaptive charging which maintains the electrical current to prevent the damage of the battery's lifespan.[6][4]
