Description	In this landscape painting, the young Sakyamuni, after "the Great Departure", says farewell to his horse and servant (top), cuts off his hair while attendants watch (centre), and practises austerities (bottom). Ink and color on silk, from Dunhuang, Gansu province, China, dated to the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD)
