Dubai Basketball is an Emirati professional basketball team based in Dubai. Founded in 2024, the team is playing in the ABA League starting from the 2024–25 season.
History
[edit]Rumours of a Dubai-located team joining the EuroLeague began in 2022,[3] and talks were confirmed in January 2024.[4] On 19 March 2024, the ABA League officially announced BC Dubai would join the league for the next three seasons, starting from 2024.[5] The teams from the league reportedly receive €2.5 million annually from Dubai, who is also paying all travel expenses.[6] Jurica Golemac was signed as the team's first head coach,[7] while Nate Mason was the first officially signed player for the team.[8] Later in the summer, Dubai BC announced that the 17,000 seater Coca-Cola Arena would serve as the team's home arena.[9]
In their first ABA game, on September 22, 2024, Dubai defeated Red Star Belgrade at home.[10]
