Untitled

The article seems to have been confused about the Jewish War and Antiquities of the Jews, two quite separate works. Some additional work would be appropriate, perhaps a review of Josephus' work. --FourthAve 00:07, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Inherent contradiction

The "original title" cannot be the Greek one given, as the text says it was originally written in Aramaic. --Dweller (talk) 12:15, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's only a theory. In any case, such version doesn't exist. It's not impossible that it was originally written in Greek, since there's no doubt he was fluent in that language as well. TFighterPilot (talk) 20:17, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Wars of the JewsThe Jewish War — Apart from being a direct translation of the Greek name, it is also the name used in all of the article's references and the astronomically more common on Google Books: [1][2]. — the Man in Question (in question) 17:23, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As much as I like the sound of "The Wars of the Jews", I agree The Jewish War is more common and so better. --Gwern (contribs) 17:30 19 January 2010 (GMT)
Support most common name in the English language. Flamarande (talk) 17:19, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Judean War

To Jayjg: here's another c.2000 scholarly references to Judean War. I am not suggesting we change the title (Jewish War is the most commonname), but Judean War is a well known alternative version. Oncenawhile (talk) 07:30, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

@Oncenawhile I created a redirect The Judean War (Book). -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:18, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A new viewpoint on Wars of the Jews

In his book Flavio Josefo y sus enigmas. El secreto marcano, Isaac Zájara maintains that Flavius Josephus and Mark the Evangelist are two pseudonyms of the same person: Jesus-bar-Jesús, biological son of Jesus of Nazareth. Zájara affirms that The Wars of the Jews and the Gospel according to Mark were written simultaneously (between 71 and 75 AD) by Jesus-bar-Jesus = Flavius Josephus = Mark the Evangelist. Zájara develops this thesis in his second book: Guerras de los judíos. Autopsia al evangelio-matriz. 45.86.185.132 (talk) 12:56, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
