Founded in Florence, Italy in 1852, Fratelli Alinari is the world's oldest photographic firm and its archives contain 3.5 million photographs, ranging from daguerreotypes to modern digital photos.

Founding

In 1852, Leopoldo Alinari, with his brothers Giuseppe and Romualdo, founded the photographic workshop specializing in photographic portraiture, photos of artworks of art and historical monuments

Today

Today the firm is still located in Florence and it now specializes in current professional technology. In 2001, Alinari established the Digital Archive which now has more than 200,000 pictures available on the Alinari Archives business site and 100,000 in the Education section.

Alinari provides photographic publishing and its Art Printworks still uses the artisan technique of collotype on paper and silver plates from photographic images.
