Russell D. Moore

Russell D. Moore is Dean of the School of Theology and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Moore is a pastor, teacher, and theologian.

Education

Background

Russell D. Moore was born and reared in the state of Mississippi. After feeling called to full-time church ministry, Dr. Moore began regularly preaching and teaching the Bible. He was a youth pastor at Woolmarket Baptist Church and Bay Vista Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS. Moore then went on to complete his education.

Moore became Dean of the School of Theology and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in January, 2004. He is also a preaching pastor at Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

Additional information

Dr. Moore writes and speaks frequently on topics ranging from the Kingdom of God, to the mission of adoption, to a theology of country music. He is a senior editor of Touchstone: A Journal of Mere Christianity. He has written books such as The Kingdom of Christ: The New Evangelical Perspective and a forthcoming volume, Adopted for Life: The Priority of Adoption for Christian Families and Churches. Prior to entering the ministry, he was an aide to U.S. Congressman Gene Taylor.
