Teatro Colón

Opened in 1908, the Colón Theater in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina is one of the most famous opera houses in the world.
Built with a seating capacity of 2,500 in surroundings of classic French Renaissance, the theater’s design features a rich scarlet and gold decor. The cupola contains frescoes painted by the renowned 20th century artist Raul Soldi. Over the years, the Colón Theater has hosted such opera greats as Arturo Toscanini Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.
