Technical move is not possible

[edit]

You suggested a move between Anjuman-i-Himayat-i-Islam and Anjuman-e-Himayat-e-Islam but both of the articles have significant history and content. Hence, I've instead put in a merge tag on the page and would request you to start a discussion the talk page of the concerned article. --QEDK () 19:03, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to WikiProject Pakistan

[edit]
Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm from WikiProject Pakistan. We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Pakistan.

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much — or little — you like:

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me or at the Wikiproject Pakistan noticeboard, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!

Citations

[edit]

Hi, I’ve recently noticed your edits and wish to thank you for improving citations within each article. This is greatly appreciated, and improves the quality of Pakistan-related articles. I typically included an inline citation for every claim and place it at the end of each sentence - I’ve found that citations only included at the end of the paragraph eventually result in the loss of inline citations as some user might carelessly delete the very last sentence which has the citation at its end. But anyway, keep up the good work and thanks for your contributions! Willard84 (talk)|

@Willard84 I highly value your comments since you yourself are a scholarly person. Truthfully, I am always happy to see your priceless contributions on Wikipedia. And I do run into them everywhere, when I edit Pakistan-related articles. Thanks for the encouragement, I'll keep trying. Ngrewal1 (talk) 18:55, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much

[edit]

Thank you sir. You probably don't know what it means to be appreciated on Wikipedia, which is an extreme rarity nowadays. I am also glad that you appreciate my work in this topic area, although I do not remember having contact with you anywhere before. If you need any assistance from me, please do not hesitate to message me. Although I should warn you that I am topic banned from editing anything on India-Pakistan conflicts and intend to honor the ban until it is lifted. Other than that, I can help you anywhere else where needed. Thank you again for your awards, very much appreciated. It means a lot.--NadirAli نادر علی (talk) 01:38, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Saira Afzal Tarar

[edit]

We do not need to cite references in in the lead or in the infoboxes because we already have them in the article body. She received the award for her public service during her tenure as Minister for National Health Services Regulation and Coordination so the award should fit in the political section. --Saqib (talk) 18:35, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Saqib: That day I ran into an Edit conflict with you and, as a result, I lost some of my work. I guess none of us knew about it. That's why I used the (in use) template as a caution so it doesn't keep happening over and over. Not a big deal. Although it would be nice if Wikipedia software can warn you, when you first start editing something, that someone else is also editing the same article at the same time? I could have gone to some other article then. Thanks anyway for the above tips....Ngrewal1 (talk) 01:51, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I apologies. --Saqib (talk) 06:02, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ngrewal1. Hope you are doing well. I have AFD some Pakistani cricketers because of poor sourcing as they fail our guideline (WP:GNG). I just wanted to confirm from a Pakistani Wikipedian that regarding quality sources about these people. Please do a search in Pakistani newspapers and if you find any then please add. Also, please share your thoughts on the AfDs. Following is the list:

  1. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohammad Ilyas (cricketer, born 1996)
  2. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohammad Afzal (Multan cricketer)
  3. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohammad Zahid (Faisalabad cricketer)

Page approval

Hi, I want to ask a thing. Sometimes, a new page is reviewed by an admin and the creator receives a notification, "page is reviewed" and then the page gets live on google. But sometimes, no one reviews it and it automatically becomes live after some days (less than 3 months). What's the mechanism here? Regards! Insight 3 (talk) 17:14, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some Help Requested

[edit]

Hi,

Salam.

I'm interested in keeping some articles up-to-date however I'm unsure how to include the information in Wikipedia article appropriately.

For now the concern is Dr. Faisal Masud's wikipedia article. There's information present about him through mainly two methods: One interview done by his university that's posted on a facebook page by the university, and other is a yearly university journal. I'm unsure how to go about including the information about him on Wikipedia, and provide these digital or otherwise resources as reliable resources.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Baitaal1999 (talkcontribs) 06:35, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reply I am sure you already know that Faisal Masud's article was a mess and was neglected since 2012 before I spent a full day fixing it yesterday. My best and sincere advice to other people is ... 'do what I and everybody else had to do', just take the time to read and learn Wikipedia rules and guidelines like I had to do. After I finished editing his article, you come in and ADDED Dr. and Professor in the first line of the article, when most people know Wikipedia is very strict about using name titles! So you can start by undoing that. Just spend the time to learn Wikipedia first, please. Also no facebook, twitter or any other social media posts can be added to Wikipedia articles as they are user-generated and not considered third party, independent and reliable sources on Wikipedia. Ngrewal1 (talk) 18:11, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nahid Niazi (famous Pakistani singer married to music composer Moslehuddin) would like a section in wikipedia created for herself. Would you or your colleagues be interested in doing so? If not I can do it.

thank you GGordon999 (talk) 22:48, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reply Please go ahead and do it. I am extremely busy right now taking care of some other issues. Sorry. I may be able to add to it later when I find time. Sorry again. Thanks... Ngrewal1 (talk) 00:21, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Film Database

[edit]

Hi Ngrewal1, Hope you are doing fine. I want to ask how do we search any film from the archived pages like CITWF? The "Pak Film Magazine" seems to be gone and now there is no other active site for film data. Thanks. Insight 3 (talk) 04:06, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reply (User talk:Insight 3), That's exactly why I prefer to use Pakistan Film Magazine's ARCHIVED VERSION. In the recent past years, we have lost the use of Motion Pictures Archive of Pakistan (MPAOP) and others this way. Those websites just disappeared for whatever reasons and I was getting tired of replacing their dead links over and over. In short, I was forced to go to their much more durable ARCHIVED VERSIONS, whenever possible and I started suggesting to you and some other active Pakistani editors to try to do the same.

Similarly regular Complete Index To World Film (CITWF) website stopped working last year and I switched over to their ARCHIVED VERSION as well. I just saved in my Favorites folder ARCHIVED filmographies of Actors, Actresses, Music directors, Film directors and now click on those as needed to select what I need. As we all already know, their Search Boxes no longer work either. Give it a try. Good luck! Ngrewal1 (talk) 15:28, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's a great loss. We can only archive a page while citing it to Wikipedia, but it is very hard to archive each and every page of a site beforehand for future use. Anyway, plz keep reviewing my recent articles and cite the archived sources where it is possible. Thanks! Insight 3 (talk) 08:31, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pakistani sources

[edit]

Hi, hope you will be fine.

After spending some time in AfDs, I have felt sometimes we have difficulty convincing non-Pakistani editors about the reliability of some Pakistani sources. Therefore, they often seem to apply their own ignorant judgements. I have seen some other countries have special pages regarding their sources, for example, this is for Nigeria. So I think it might be good idea to make one for Pakistani sources. I have created an initial draft:

Draft:Wikipedia:WikiProject Pakistan/Pakistani sources

Please contribute and give your thoughts, and also invite others. I have shared this draft on the noticeboard of WP:Pakistan. Thanks. Insight 3 (talk) 15:07, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tremendous effort, Insight 3. It's definitely needed! I'll try to contribute to it, whenever I can. My 'Best Regards' to the younger generation that have more time and energy. Right now, to be very frank, I mostly and already have my hands full. My wife and grown-up kids already are complaining about the fact that I have a tendency to bite more than I can chew and neglect my personal health issues. By the way, you may have already noticed that I try to 'cover' all Pakistan-related topics and sometimes go over to the Indian side to maintain their music-related and Islam-related topics. Music has been my passion all my life --- just like you? ...Ngrewal1 (talk) 22:46, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your encouragement, Ngrewal1. Of course, family and health come first. I think this draft would need months to get a general community agreement. So, just do it whenever you find time. Insight 3 (talk) 04:00, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have published the project page Wikipedia:WikiProject Pakistan/Pakistani sources. Please give some input so that it can proceed towards a community consensus. Thanks. Insight 3 (talk) 17:58, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
