Lucca James Kovac (born August 22, 2002), professionally known as Angry Children, is a Meme Rapper and Producer. He has recorded both solo and with other Meme Rappers in the genre. He describes his work at "humorous and absurd". His music designed to go viral through internet culture, blending catchy beats with lyrics that emphasize irony, parody, or meme references. He playfully exaggerates stereotypes in his music, using bizarre visuals, and embracing deliberately exaggerated personas. His tracks are often short, making them perfect for platforms like TikTok and Instagram where they catch on as trends.
Early Life
Kovac was born on August 22, 2002, in Newtown, Connecticut and attended high school at Newtown High in Newtown. He adopted the name Angry Children, and began rapping and producing at age 15. After two successful albums, at the the peak of Meme Rap, his song Erika became a viral hit, charting on two charts and peaking at #10 on a daily viral songs chart.
Career
2017-2022: Solo success and collaborations
On February 5, 2017, Kovac released his first digital single Roblox, which is a is a playful, meme-heavy track that taps into the online gaming culture of the platform Roblox. The song blends humor and satire as it references iconic aspects of Roblox, like avatar customization, in-game currency (Robux), and popular mini-games, in a way that appeals to fans of the game and internet culture alike. With exaggerated lyrics and a tone that pokes fun at the quirks of the game, Roblox captures the chaotic and sometimes silly essence of the platform, while also tapping into the nostalgia and community that Roblox represents for many players. On September 8, 2017, Kovac released his first digital album, Illuminati Confirmed XL, which features eerie beats, suspenseful melodies, and samples that evoke secrecy or mystery. This album came out during the MLG (Major League Gaming) era, which was a distinct period of internet culture in the early to mid-2010s characterized by exaggerated gaming memes, ironic humor, and over-the-top, hyper-stylized video edits. Originally tied to gaming culture, specifically competitive gaming and eSports. On December 6, 2017, Kovac released his second digital album, Sanic Tunes Collection, which is a humorous, meme-driven take on classic video game music, especially inspired by "Sanic," the meme version of Sonic the Hedgehog. The album features remixes, parodies, or low-fi versions of Sonic the Hedgehog's iconic themes, all with a quirky, exaggerated twist that reflects the chaotic, intentionally "bad" art style and humor associated with the Sanic meme. On February 3, 2022, he released his digital single Erika, which is what most people know him for today. The song is a cover of the original song by Herms Niel.
Personal Life
On December 14, 2012, Kovac was a victim of the Sandy Hook Shooting, which was a tragic and mass shooting that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut. A 20-year-old gunman entered the school and opened fire, resulting in the deaths of 26 people, including 20 young children aged 6 and 7, as well as 6 school staff members. Before arriving at the school, the shooter had also killed his mother at their home. After the attack, he took his own life.
