User routinely POV pushes in articles that bangladeshi editor Lazy-restless has a topic ban from through a variety of Bangaldeshi IP's including: 43.245.120.180 and 43.245.121.109 and 116.58.200.180, and 103.67.159.159. Not sure about the second username however, they might be unrelated. Sxologist (talk) 04:47, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

- Yes, its me, User:Lazy-restless. I am not a thief that I should hide myself. I'm blocked in english wikipedia and recently I requested for unblock in UTRS and my request is on process of review. God knows what will happen, whatever is going to happen, I trust, He always does the best. Also please check this edit by User:Sxologist, he is just doing an inappropriate politics. 43.245.121.109 (talk) 05:01, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- Well, you just confirmed that you continued to edit on pages you have a topic ban from. That's probably grounds for a permanent ban, but I'll cc: @Crossroads: and @Flyer22 Frozen: to check I'm correct on that. Also, the revert I made on your edit on the Nicholas Cummings article was because you cited the book "Making Gay Okay: How Rationalizing Homosexual Behavior Is Changing Everything". This is not a reliable nor appropriate source. There was also no need to make an entire section dedicated to Cummings beliefs about removal of homosexuality from the DSM. You are POV pushing. It would be adequate to have a few sentences under "Professional career" section, and linked to a more appropriate source. Sxologist (talk) 05:57, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

- Self-favored politics? Dude, just stick to the rules and cite reputable sources. You got topic banned for a reason, and have continued to edit under IP's in the same topic.. Sxologist (talk) 07:02, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

- @Mz7: Thanks. Lazy-restless admits to editing under these IPs in areas they have a topic ban. Perhaps worth adding commentary about this in their UTRS unblock request, however I am unable to find it. Sxologist (talk) 07:02, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- Sxologist, thanks – I've actually already left a note at the UTRS appeal (my understanding is only admins can see those appeals). Mz7 (talk) 07:04, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- Ah, gotcha, thanks for clarifying. Sxologist (talk) 07:06, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- Only the clerk, checkusers, and/or patrolling admins usually comment in this section, but since Mz7 doesn't seem to mind in this case... Mz7, our WP:CheckUser policy also states, "When announcing the results of their checks, CheckUsers will employ a variety of means to avoid connecting a user to an IP address, but in some cases it is hard to avoid doing so. This policy encourages English Wikipedia CheckUsers not to allow such connections to be made from their results, but the global privacy policy allows them to do so in the case of serious disruption, and this policy allows CheckUsers to prioritise compliance with Wikipedia policy over the personal privacy of a user who has abusively edited the encyclopedia. In some situations, while CheckUsers can endeavour to avoid explicitly connecting an account to an IP address, they will find it difficult or impossible not to do so. For instance, when a user edits disruptively using multiple IPs, or a mixture of IPs and accounts, the CheckUser will find it difficult to block the accounts and then the IP addresses without an obvious inference being drawn by onlookers from the series of blocks being made in a short period of time. When a user abusively uses several accounts and it is reasonably plausible they will create more accounts, the underlying IP range must be blocked so further abusive accounts cannot be made. The IP addresses and user accounts must therefore be blocked together." No need to ping me if you reply. Flyer22 Frozen (talk) 03:09, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- And the IP admitted to being Lazy-restless. We don't have any reason to believe that the IP is lying about that and is impersonating Lazy-restless. Flyer22 Frozen (talk) 03:12, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- Right, and I have blocked the four IP ranges I listed precisely because the IP admitted to being Lazy-restless. The reason CU is declined is because the CU policy prohibits us from publicly connecting specific IPs to specific accounts (in this case the প্রলয়স্রোত account). The general practice at WP:SPI is that if you ask us to run a check to determine whether a specific user is using a specific IP address, we will publicly decline to run that check. Mz7 (talk) 03:22, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- Note: I went ahead and moved this to the non-CU/clerk/admin section since you mentioned it. Mz7 (talk) 03:24, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- Sxologist, thanks for opening this. As you now found out like I once did, CheckUser won't be done for IPs, and CheckUser data expires after a while
(pretty sure it's 6 months). But I'm glad to see this worked out even without that. I suspected it may be him too. Regarding a permanent ban, see WP:Blocks and bans; but this is both WP:Block evasion and topic ban evasion, so it certainly will not help him get his block lifted, nor his topic ban if he were to pursue that one day. Crossroads -talk- 19:08, 20 August 2020 (UTC)- Crossroads, currently CheckUser data expires from the database 90 days after you make the edit, to the second. Mz7 (talk) 03:26, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

[edit]- Check declined by a checkuser. The privacy policy prohibits CheckUsers from connecting user accounts to their IP addresses, and in any case the master account, Lazy-restless, is Stale. Because of the admission above, I have temporarily blocked the following ranges for 1 week:
- Unfortunately, there is going to be collateral damage with these blocks, so a week is already relatively long I think. I have not yet reviewed the behavior of the প্রলয়স্রোত account. Note: This case was originally filed under "103.67.159.165"; I have moved it under Lazy-restless. Mz7 (talk) 06:45, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- I don't see strong evidence to connect প্রলয়স্রোত to Lazy-restless. Closing. GeneralNotability (talk) 15:09, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

[edit]- Looks like this should have been filed under Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lazy-restless. 103.134.25.90 admitted they were Lazy-restless on bnwiki, and this new Bangladeshi IP editing the same obscure draft is probably the same person per WP:DUCK. I would block here, but because the range seems to be dynamic, and this particular IP address hasn't edited in a couple days, I think it is too stale for action. Clerk assistance requested: Please merge this case to Lazy-restless, and I would close without action. Thanks, Mz7 (talk) 22:18, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

[edit]- Closing since the IP hasn't edited in a month - our fault, not yours. Note that this /24 is one that was blocked last year for self-admitted block evasion. As a matter of technical interest: Spur is telling me that the IP they edited from is hosting some callback proxies, and poking around Spur's database with my API key shows a lot of similar sketchy callback proxies on that range, though I can't tell whether it's because a lot of the range is hosting proxies or it's because there are a couple of very dynamic IPs hosting those proxies. Anyway. Closing without action. GeneralNotability (talk) 02:13, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

IP abuse can be already confirmed with this diff.
This account is badgering the AfD same way he did it with his earlier socks.[5][6]

Bringtar logged in after more than 1.5 years just to save the article on Ved Prakash Upadhyay created by this sockmaster.[8][9]
Another IP which was significantly used to rescue this article is 202.134.10.141. It is currently blocked for block evasion.
Bringtar used to add gross WP:BLP violations and problematic content on List of converts to Islam from Hinduism of more than 30,000 bytes.[10] Nobody ever cared to restore the defective and gross WP:BLP violating version of 30,000 additional bytes in these 2 years except this new proxy IP sock, 202.134.10.130 which is now blocked. However, this same proxy IP also edited about Ved Prakash Upadhyay.[11]
Here as 202.134.10.130, he "doubt about one or more accounts being sock recently

- 202.134.8.129 is blocked for block evasion now. This IP sock has exhibited his deep interest with List of converts to Islam from Hinduism just like Bringtar[12][13] but he also lamented getting "Template:Ds/alert" on the "Bringtar" account on ANI.[14] @Girth Summit: Do you agree this is WP:DUCK behavior? Aman Kumar Goel (Talk) 12:19, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

4 months ago, Bringtar had edited after nearly 2 years to vote for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ved Prakash Upadhyay[22] after he was blocked on his IP sock.[23]
Now 2 days ago, Bringtar logged in after 5 months to reinstate edits of Lazy-restless on List of converts to Islam from Hinduism[24] after his IP socks were blocked as per the last SPI.[25][26]
These two edits similarly large edits by both Lazy-restless and Bringtar on this same article should leave no doubt.[27][28]
Lazy-restless (with his confirmed sock Deepmason) and Bringtar complained the same user about their edits to List of converts to Islam from Hinduism.[29][30]
Bringtar has also asked আফতাবুজ্জামান to explain why he reverted socks of Lazy-restless as if it was a wrong thing.[31]

The user registered 5 days ago but if you check their edit from day 1, their behaviour gives impretion that they aren't newbie. They have similar/identical interest. Previously they created Draft:Writing Bengali in Arabic script, Draft:Bengali language in Arabic script, Pak-Bangla language, Draft:Bengali writing in Arabic script, Proposal to make Arabic as the state language of Pakistan etc. This time the user created Proposal for making Arabic as the state Language of Pakistan & Islamization of Bengali language with almost identical text. On Zina, most likely their IP added this, after it was reverted this new user added the same text. Like previous sock they have internet in Kalki Avatar and Muhammad & created redirect like Muhammad in Hinduism, Muhammad in Hindu scriptures, Muhammad in the Vedas and the Puranas. Like previous sock they are also interested in "Islam and Hinduism" topic and they created Chapters on Indian religions, Poets of Charyapada. Please see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lazy-restless/Archive for more. আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 09:33, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

@Wikishovel Actually I don't contribute regularly to English Wikipedia, but I do regularly to Bengali Wikipedia. One of the reasons is that I am not very proficient in English. Even the articles that I have created, most of them are translated from Bengali. That's why my initial interest was more towards articles related to Bangladesh.
But recently I have been working on creating some articles related to the Islam on the English Wikipedia. Using this tool I have found some articles which exist in Bengali Wikipedia but not in English Wikipedia. In doing so I coincidentally matched the behavior of Lazy-Restless, who is an interrupted user. But I can definitely say that I am in no way associated with said user. I didn't even know him before today (because he got banned before I joined Wikipedia). I edit Wikipedia on my own initiative and strive to do so in accordance with Wikipedia's guidelines. Thank you. [edit]- The CU data says Possible but basically Inconclusive. I'm not seeing enough in the behavioral evidence to take any action. RoySmith (talk) 13:50, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
