DYK for Tammie Jo Shults

On 6 July 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tammie Jo Shults, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Tammie Jo Shults (pictured), captain of Southwest Airlines Flight 1380, was one of the first female tactical fighter pilots in the US Navy? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tammie Jo Shults. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Tammie Jo Shults), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Vandalism fighting

Hiya, I noticed you are doing some good work reverting and fighting vandalism, but you aren't yet using Twinkle to do so. I would thoroughly recommend it. It will allow you to not only revert vandalism quickly, but also comes up with the user's talk page, and allows you to issue template warnings quickly, and will link to the diff you just reverted. See WP:TW for how to enable it. Happy editing! Agent00x (talk) 01:12, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Thomas Matthew Crooks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Rumoured shooter at Attempted assassination of Donald Trump, completely unconfirmed. Should not exist per WP:BLP.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. @CFA few points, since i created the article and you deleted it and a new one was created by you right after conveniently under your name, i want mine restored so it will be under my name. Bohbye (talk) 23:20, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please understand that the image contains the shooter's family's address (and is therefore a WP:BLP violation of WP:NPF) and self-revert. Thanks! -- SashiRolls 🌿 · 🍥 00:32, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just noticed the address and youa re correct, it shouldn't be on wikipedia. undid my edit. Thank you for correcting me. Bohbye (talk) 00:39, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed that you have attempted to change "Counter Sniper Team" to "Counter Assault Team" the article twice in Special:Diff/1234785906 and Special:Diff/1234941929/1234942081 even though the inline citation says otherwise. Those edits have been reverted and I hope to clear things up before there is a third attempt at this edit.

I imagine that you think that "Counter Sniper Team" is an error because a lot of the initial news reports credited the Counter Assault Team. The Secret Service snipers are part of the Counter Sniper Team, which is considered a separate team and can be seen on this page on their website. Some newer reports have started to differentiate the two like this article where it states, "[...] its heavily armed counterassault team that provided cover as Trump’s detail evacuated him and the countersniper teams that ultimately spotted and killed the shooter."

I hope this clears things up for you! Spitfire8520 (talk) 04:10, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Raladic. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Talk:Kamala Harris that didn't seem very civil, so it may have been removed. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Raladic (talk) 06:22, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop stalking me Bohbye (talk) 06:26, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's not stalking, it's a very mild comment about your edit. Doug Weller talk 11:29, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked.(edit conflict) with NinjaRobotPirate. As for "stalking" you, there's a reason a user's contributions can be easily looked up: if you're concerned about somebody's editing, you can look at their contribs to see if there's perhaps a pattern of disruption. Very useful for admins and for good faith editors in general. "Stalking" is something else. You have been blocked for a week for unreasonable accusations of stalking in several places, and, in particular, for this unacceptable comment. You can request unblock from an uninvolved administrator by placing {{unblock|your reason here}} on this page. Bishonen | tålk 12:18, 5 August 2024 (UTC).[reply]
I can't speak to user:Bohbye's edits everywhere, but on Talk:Kamala Harris, I believe it is Radalic who is perennially nipping at the heels of others' edits with what I consider is borderline wikilawyering. They have also reverted twice on Kamala Harris in the last 24 hours though I'm sure they have an excuse ready for it. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 15:25, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Fowler&fowler Do you mean User:Raladic? Doug Weller talk 15:32, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies. Yes I do. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 17:02, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please assume good faith.
It is bold that you call me wiki lawyering, as you have yourself been doing so in RFC: How to refer to the African ancestry of Kamala Harris? as called out by multiple (myself including) users. In any case, no foul was meant, so apologies if it came across so, so let's please shake hands and move on.
As for the 2 reverts, that was simply an oversight on my part, my apologies. I forgot that I had reverted your reversion of the summary of the split earlier in the day. In any case, it is a moot point since the user I reverted and I have come to a consensus that I had no objection to the tooltip note, which we have since added back pretty much immediately following the clarification and I helped fix. I just explained to them that they also changed the text prose which does have a consensus per the FAQ on the talk page as you're aware, which I also explained already on the talk page.
No edit-warring was intended and the fact that I accidentally made a second reversion within 24 hours was a simple human mistake, mea culpa. Raladic (talk) 19:00, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Quite baffling to see you ask others to assume good faith when you just went straight to the ANI route with others. Bohbye (talk) 22:29, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Honestly, I never attacked anyone or any specific editor. The comment addresses a phenomenon called Racial fluidity, which is not controversial whatsoever; read the wiki page on the subject. Separately, the AfDs were created without any intention to disrupt. the new pages created looked like forks for the sake of expanding on subjects to match similar pages of Joe Biden. etc.

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=Honestly, I never attacked anyone or any specific editor. If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

{{unblock reviewed |1=Honestly, I never attacked anyone or any specific editor. Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

"In America"

I saw your recent comment about gender and race. What I thought was odd was your comment about "In America". If you are in Finland or from Finland as your early edits indicate, why are you so concerned about US culture? Just wondering. Viriditas (talk) 19:17, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is a fascinating country, and the media including the so called publicly created media is de facto controlled by certain groups that will cancel you if they disagree with their opinion. That attitude leaks over and becomes mainstream in western societies, so it affects not just the US. Bohbye (talk) 00:41, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
