A fact from Eggøya appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 22 August 2013 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows: Did you know... that the exiled HNoMS Fridtjof Nansen was wrecked off the volcanic island Jan Mayen in November 1940, after striking a previously uncharted rock west-southwest of Eggøya in the northern part of Rekvedbukta? where the text says 'and hotspots are still present' I'm guessing it is not suggesting that there are multiple volcanic hotspots - though clearly Jan_Mayen_hotspot is nearby. I presume the source refers to areas that are still 'hot' or display some geothermal activity? EdwardLane (talk) 00:01, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced the word hotspot with hydrothermal vent. The source says steam from small fissures. Oceanh (talk) 12:01, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
