A Gender Reveal Party is a baby shower where the guests, and often times the expecting parents[1], find out the sex of the baby at the party.

Description

The most popular method for revealing the baby's sex is to have a cake where the inside is pink for a girl or blue for a boy.[2]

Gender Reveal Parties have become much more popular due to cell-free fetal DNA testing being available as early as 10-weeks.[3] This test is non-intrusive as it only requires blood from the mother. Before this test was available, the sex of the unborn baby was determined via ultrasound between 16-20 weeks of gestation.
