User scripts examples

You can install user scripts written in JavaScript to add helpful features to your account, and to automate various tasks. You could write your own scripts. But many user scripts have already been written by Wikipedians, and they are ready to be made use of. To enable these scripts, simply copy and paste them into your common.js file. (Only logged-in users can install scripts). This will allow use of the script in any Wikipedia skin (Vector is the default skin).

Examples of scripts:

Some of the most popular scripts have become Gadgets, which can be enabled simply by checking an option under the gadget tab of your user preferences.

What you can do

About me

And now for the fun stuff.

My quotes

  • There's no place like Wikipedia.
  • It always is ironic when a Wikipedian misspells "encyclopedic." [1]
  • Be optimistic: It's almost Friday
    • (Less than a week!)
  • I find it funny how everyone voted for George Bush in the 2004 presidential election, and then stopped liking him two years later. It's both ironic and hypocritical, considering the same people who were calling John Kerry a "flip-flopper" are now changing their minds about Bush.
  • Besides letting time pass, the only two ways to get rid of a song that’s stuck in your head is to either (1) get a new one stuck in your head, or (2) to pass it on to someone else by singing it out loud. [2]

Contributions

My day on Wikipedia begins with checking my watchlist. I review each changed page, adding necessary comments, and revert any vandalism I come across. Occasionally I'll click links to random pages and clean up articles that aren't up to par. But the majority of my time is spent voting. And I don't mean for politics. My favorite spots are Featured picture candidates and Motto of the day/Nominations. Here is a summary of the ideas I have suggested for others to vote on.
