Tré Cool (born Frank Edwin Wright III, December 9 1972, in Frankfurt, Germany) is the drummer of the rock band Green Day. He replaced the band's former drummer Al Sobrante.

As a drummer, he is known for his high speed, technical rhythm, and impressive stamina while performing live, in addition to the silly faces he will make while drumming.^{[citation needed]}

Tré was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1972. Despite having parents from America, his family was living in Germany at the time, as his father was a pilot stationed there by the U.S. Military. When his father finished his service, the family moved to Laytonville, California where Tré grew up. In California, Tré's closest neighbor was future Lookout! Records owner Lawrence Livermore. When Tré was 12, Livermore asked him to play drums for his punk band, The Lookouts. As with band tradition, every member had to have a stage name, so Livermore gave him the name Tré Cool (meaning "very cool" in French). In 1990, Tré left The Lookouts to join another band on Livermore's record label, Green Day. That same year, he dropped out of school, leaving community college, to focus on Green Day. His father served as a the band's driver for their early tours driving the band in a bookmobile. Tré 's first album with Green Day was 1992's Kerplunk!. Two years later, their next album, Dookie, broke the band into the mainstream, where they have since been one of the most popular rock bands, selling over 63.5 million records.

In 1995, Tré and his long time girlfriend, Lisea Lyons, had a daughter named Ramona in January, who is named after his idol, Joey Ramone. In March that same year, the couple got married, but divorced in 1996. In March 2000, Tré married his girlfriend Claudia. Together they had a son named Frankito (Born in 2001), but divorced in 2003.

In the earlier years of Green Day, Tré used a DW drum kit. Since the album Warning, Tré has got his own signature Slingerland drum kit, called the "Spitfire". However, on the American Idiot tour, Tré parted ways with his Slingerland kit, and now uses a Ludwig-Musser Classic Maple kit with a Shadow Purple paintjob. He says. He uses Zildjian cymbals and Danmar products. According to an interview with Drum Magazine, his most prized and "still go-to" snare is a Noble & Cooley which he purchased for $600 before making Dookie

Tré sings and plays guitar on the tracks Dominated Love Slave, and "All by Myself", from Kerplunk!, and Dookie respectively. He wrote the subtrack "Rock and Roll Girlfriend" from the medley, "Homecoming," featured on the album American Idiot. He also sang and composed the track "DUI" ("Driving Under the Influence"), which was recorded during the Nimrod sessions, and was due to be released on Shenanigans (a compilation of B-sides), but was inexplicably omitted.

During a radio interview at Washington DC's alternative station, DC 101, Tré sang and played the guitar to a short song titled "Like a Rat does Cheese", a song about the pleasure of fellatio.

Several live tracks also exist, usually from early dates around 1993 such as "Food Around the Corner", a song he composed about Billie Joe's mom, and "Boys in the Bathroom Stall"^{[citation needed]}.

• Tré climbed the Universal Studios ball (their trademark) in Orlando, Florida. He climbed the ball at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards. It landed him in VH1's Top 100 Red Carpet Acts.
