Prabhas Raju Uppalapati (born 23 October 1979),[1] popularly known as Prabhas, is an Indian film actor, who is referred to as Young Rebel star in Telugu cinema.[2][3][4][5][6][7]
Personal Life
Prabhas was born to U. Suryanarayana Raju and Siva Kumari. His family is from Mogalturu village in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. He is the youngest of three children, with an elder brother Pramod and sister Pragathee.[8] He is the nephew of Telugu actor Uppalapati Krishnam Raju.[9]
Career
Prabhas started his movie career with Eshwar in 2002. In 2003, he was the lead in Raghavendra. He appeared in 2004 with M. S. Raju's Varsham which is the first hit in his career. He followed this with Adavi Raamudu and Chakram. In September 2005 he acted in the film Chatrapathi directed by S. S. Rajamouli whcih gave him huge mass following. Later he acted in Pournami and Yogi. Munna, an action-drama film came out in 2007 followed by the action-comedy Bujjigadu in 2008. In 2009 his two films were Billa and Ek Niranjan .
In 2010 he appeared in the romantic comedy Darling and in 2011, Mr. Perfect, another romantic comedy. With these two films he attracted family audience too. In 2012, Prabhas starred in Rebel, an action film directed by Raghava Lawrence. His next film was Mirchi with debutante director Koratala Shiva which is his first entry into Tollywood 40 crore club. Previously this film was named Vaaradhi. He has been working on S. S. Rajamouli's Baahubali from 2013, which is stated to release in the first half of 2015.
