Today's featured list  Today's featured list is a section included on the Main Page on Mondays and on Fridays, in which an introduction to one of Wikipedia's featured lists is displayed. The current month's queue can be found here. The lists appearing on the Main Page are scheduled by the featured list director, currently Giants2008. To be eligible to appear on the Main Page, a list must already be featured. For more information on the featured list promotion process, please see the featured list candidates, as well as the featured list criteria. In addition, a blurb is drafted, introducing the subject of the list. Blurbs are roughly 1,000 characters in length, with no reference tags, alternate names or extraneous boldface type, although a link to the specified featured list should be emboldened; a relevant picture is also usually included with the blurb. The previous three lists that were featured on the Main Page appear along the bottom, in reverse chronological order. You can submit a list to be scheduled at the submissions page. At the moment, lists are scheduled by the featured list director or by the featured list delegates, although we will eventually be devising a community-based system for selecting each day's list. We encourage editors to submit and to review as many blurbs as possible. Over 6 seasons, 110 episodes of the American television sitcom Community aired. The series premiered on NBC on September 17, 2009, and ended on June 2, 2015. Community follows a group of students at a community college in the fictional locale of Greendale, Colorado. The series heavily uses meta-humor and pop culture references, often parodying film and television clichés and tropes. The series stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, and Chevy Chase, with Jim Rash being promoted from recurring to series regular in season three. The first season of Community aired from September 17, 2009, through May 20, 2010. After four further seasons, NBC announced that the series had been canceled. Yahoo! Screen picked it up for a sixth and final season. (Full list...)

Between the 1890s and 1940s, the Imperial Japanese Navy built a series of battleships as it expanded its fleet. Previously, the Empire of Japan had acquired a few ironclad warships from foreign builders, although it had adopted the Jeune École naval doctrine which emphasized cheap torpedo boats and commerce raiding to offset expensive, heavily armored ships. Combat experience in the First Sino-Japanese War of 1894–1895 convinced the Imperial Japanese Navy that its doctrine was untenable, leading to a ten-year naval construction program that called for a total of six battleships and six armored cruisers (the Six-Six Fleet). To counter reinforcement of the Russian Empire's Pacific Squadron as tensions rose between the Russians and the Japanese over control of Korea and Manchuria in the early 1900s, Japan ordered the two battleships of the Katori class in 1903.
